| | | Re: Knee surgery John....It's not that unawfully uncommon for people to need blood transfusion after some surgeries...knee suregery is one where people can lose alot of blood...like hip surgery also. Since she has immune issues already it's not a shock. I've seen a number who've needed transfusions in these circumstances. Hemoglobin is 8...at 7 people surely get a transfusion...8 is low also, but not life threatening really. Normal is around 12 or maybe 12-14...since she was at 8 she likely may have dropped a little more.
On occassion people do get infections...otherwise things go very smoothly. Yes, better to be in hospital and get rid of it completely...they need to be caught asap and treated well...so healing can proceed. People who go home or to "Nursing Homes"...if daily care to the area isn't good ...these infections can get away from you...and that has happens in Nursing Homes too...waiting too long to believe that the tiniest appearance is a true infection and then it gets to causing bigger trouble.
I wouldn't worry about the blood issues....it's just because of the surgery...it happens...I'd be glad if I were you that she's in the hospital....best place to be to get the infection taken care of well. kim | Today

| | Re: Knee surgery Father, I ask that you be with John and his wife. Calm their fears, hold them upright in You. Touch this woman of Yours, place your healing hand on her. Stop any blood loss that may be occurring, let the new blood course through her veins vital and fresh. If an infection is present: remove it and restore her to health. Touch her entire body, bolster her immune system, speed that healing in that knee, and let her rise up out of that bed quickly. Be with John as he travels back and forth to be with her. Keep him strong and safe. Lord, we give them both over to Your loving care.

| | Re: Knee surgery Thank you everyone for your continuing prayers. Thank you also Kim for the explanation which helps allay my anxieties a little. She did have an infection, but they had already started treating for that late Tuesday evening. When I saw her this evening, she was looking and feeling 100% better. She said that she is definitely not going to even suggest that they send her home. She will wait until they make the suggestion. I am trusting in the Lord on the entire situation as is she. He knows how much I depend on her. We depend on each other and both of us on the Lord.
Glory to His name!

| | Re: Knee surgery I understand how scary it can be when someone we love and depend on so much (for love and support) has serious life threatening situations. I would rather I suffer than my wife, and it hurts me when shes in pain. I will continue to pray for her John.

| | Re: Knee surgery Father, I pray healing down on John's wife right now. Continue to work in her body to restore her completely. Give her freedom from pain, and restore her mobility completely. I also ask that You pour Your love down on both John and his wife. Touch them right now, Father, and let them feel Your love. In Jesus name. Amen

Her knee is progressing very well. She still can't drive, but she has switched from a walker to a cane to hobble around. This morning she had her old clogged mediport removed and a new inserted in the upper chest. Now that the anesthetic has worn off she's in a little pain there, but nothing like what she went through with the knee. God is keeping His hand on her. |

| | | Re: Knee surgery Very nice to hear John...I remember when Gramma next door got her knee done just awhile back...and also went from walker to cane....and now she is doing fantastic with nothing...and I mean she couldn't get up a small step before this...she's doing better than I ever expected at 86. So yes, your wife I imagine will be amazed how quick she'll be quite normal...it won't be too long now. And you bet...it's for real...
