| | The Old-Fashiond Christian
Here's the board's new resident old fogey.
Been through enough in my 64 years to know that
I have learned more than some, less than many,
and differently than a lot.
Seems that few online communities have
members in their 60's and older.
Some of the younger members
have little understanding about
what longer lives bring and not much
patience chatting with ancient past history.
Here is the thing: what is the reason one posts on forums?
Some have real agendas to gather adherents,
some just like validation of their views,
some want to win in competitive dialogues. (AKA: debate, argument))
Some have rather elaborate egotistical ideas
that they need to impress others with.
Some make lots of new friends, some are disabled
and cannot physically or mentally go out into the world.
Some have nobody else to turn to for help and support.
And I believe that in spite of all the weeds
that spring up, there are such patches of sunshine
and flowers to be discovered and enjoyed
in the many enlightened minds of good-will
and amity, of agape, that there is still hope
for real joy in greeting and touching the
lives of fellow human beings.
And even Christians.
This being said....HOWDY Y'ALL!!!!!

| | Re: The Old-Fashiond Christian Latreia, you make some great points about why people participate in forums... and it helps when the forum is working 100% - which, of course, it will be soon
I believe the concept of this website is unique and necessary... the bridging of different Christian denominations (starting with the ministers) represents an idea whose time has come.... In addition to handling the development aspect of this site, I hope to participate in the community as well... I already see you have made some interesting posts so I think it's great you are onboard! |

Rose! Thanks for the reply! My sister-in-law's name
is Rose. She has just started a new life on mission
in Curitiba, Brazil. She was a Navy wife, raised 3
stepchildren and one daughter, and is a retired widow.
She has 5 grandchildren and two crazy brothers.
I am married to one of them. (Praise the Lord)
She is learning to speak Portuguese and being
"culturized" to that country.
Then there is my kat, Rosy. Don't ask.
God Bless you, Rose, have a sweet day.

| | Re: The Old-Fashiond Christian latreia,
I wish that old-fashioned always used words common to today as in your post. I've seen elsewhere that you use the KJV. Why doth thy posts not practice its lingo? Too silly?
I do have an agenda that the Bible/faith that we profess is no different from that which we live.
Leading your own business, what would you think if your secretary sent out your memos with 17th century words, your sales staff shalt approach clients in this manner, etc.? Unite in our team if you are ready for the pickier, true God. (But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.) |

| | | Re: The Old-Fashiond Christian [Jeremiah 6:16-19] ” Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. Hear, O Earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.”
The Church of Jesus Christ is at a modern day Crossroads. The word that is translated “ways” here indicates a place of decision. The prophesied apostasy is upon us and we are going to have to “see” and “choose” which path we are going to walk on.So many in the church today are running headlong onto the path of apostasy. The modern “Word of faith” movement, with all of its divergent paths will lead some astray, promising riches and a god-like status that is not Biblical.Others will be drawn down the path of the ” seeker-sensitive” church, which does all it can, even to the estrangement of God’s Word, to make people comfortable. One very dangerous path of the modern church are the so called Church growth methods, such as G-12 and Cell group programs, which seek to totally control its members and introduce believers to a non-biblical route of discipleship. Their path is not one of Grace, but rather, is one of law.
The path that the believer needs to be on, is an old path.It was originated by God after the Fall and has been steadily revealed to mankind ever since. This is the path of the Cross. It is by faith in what Christ finished for us at Calvary that a person enters into relationship with God. As well, it is this same simple Faith in Christ’s finished Work at Calvary that supplies the believer with the supernatural help and Grace needed to live out our daily lives. Faith in God’s redemption plan is the “old path”. God revealed this Holy path to men like Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Joesph, David, and to many, many others. When Jesus stated that He was the only “Way” [road or path] that would lead men to the Father, He spoke of who He was and what He would do for all mankind at Calvary.
If you are trusting in your own efforts or law keeping to get you to heaven, you are on the wrong path. If your hope lies in your confession of a certain scripture or a particular church growth method, you are on the wrong path. If your eyes are ever on Jesus Christ, who He is, and What He did at the Cross, then you are on the old path. This path will lead you into a walk with God that is profitable for you; spirit, soul, and body. Righteousness will be your garment and faithfulness will bring you a crown. Every other path will lead you to weeping and gnashing of teeth. Those who reject God’s path, the path of faith in Christ and Him Crucified, will find themselves facing the wrath and judgment of God. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
