| | Re: video forum meeting
The forum met on Thursday, May 28, and a delightful evening ensued. The meeting was not video taped this time. There were two basic topics discussed: The "oneness" of the Church and the question of whether Christ could have sired a child (through, for example, Mary Madgeline).
There is no question that the true body of Christ is not "cut up into pieces" and spread around the world. It is Christians that are divided but not Christ Himself and in the broadest sense-the Church is Christ extended into time and hence His "oneness" presists in spirit among all believers. This is a paraphrased restatement of the conclusion reached by the clergy with respect to the first question.
The short answer to the second question (inspired by the fictional suggestion in the popular work "The DiVinci Code") is yes - but Christ would not pass on His divinity (a theological absurdity) but only His humanity. An interesting problem still arises, however, as to whether the offspring of Christ would be tainted by "original sin" under the view that humankind inherits the taint through normal procreation - which is precisely why the clergy in attendence were not thrilled to discuss theoretical possibilities any further which depart from the historical record regarding the life of Christ.
There were also discussions regarding administrative aspects of the forum and future plans - which are exciting and will be shared with the entire community in due course.
