Arrow You can't SEPARATE Christmas from Good Friday!

... And Good Friday from Passover Sunday!

"So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was BORN and for this I came into the world, to testify to the Truth. ... " (St. John 18:37)

What is the Truth? ... Jesus, and Him Crucified. Remember, that Jesus reigns from a Cross!

"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ, and Him Crucified." (1 Cor. 2:2)

" 2. The centrality of the reign of God in Montfort spirituality

Although Saint Louis de Montfort has no special work, or even a section
of his writings, specifically devoted to the reign of God, nonetheless
this theme encapsulates the saint’s life and teachings. Saint Louis
Marie was consumed with the burning desire "to destroy sin and establish
the reign of Jesus Christ over that of the corrupt world" (SM 59). He
was, like Jesus, the Missionary of the Father, above all the herald of
the Kingdom of God.

Montfort’s life and writings bear out this truth. Seventeen of his
thirty-four letters or fragments of letters have the greeting "May the
pure love of God reign in our hearts" (cf. L 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc.).
The salutation in his later letters, "May Jesus Christ and his Cross
reign forever! (Vive Jésus, Vive sa Croix)" (cf. L 26, 27, 29, 30,
etc.), not only calls for the reign of Jesus but makes it known that
Jesus reigns from the Cross (cf. FC). "

A few verses to consider:

"And no man hath ascended into heaven, but He that descended from heaven, the Son of Man Who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up [on the Cross]: That whosoever believeth in Him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting. For God so loved the world, as to give His Only Begotten Son [Christmas and Good Friday]; that whosoever believeth in Him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting." (St. John 3:13-16)

Another awesome verse for this thread:

"Wherefore WHEN He cometh into the world, He saith: "Sacrifice and oblation thou wouldest not: but a Body thou hast fitted to Me: ..." (Hebrews 10:5)

In the Orthodox icon of the Nativity, the Lord's swaddling clothes resemble the burial shroud.

Three smiles.

And the manger is also possessed of the Eucharistic Theme. For we are called to MUNCH/GNAW at His Flesh and drink His Blood in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass---kind of like the animals which fed in the same location where Christ is laid down ... in a feeding trough.

And Bethlehem literally means "house of Bread".

Nor separate Easter Saturday, [not perish] Easter Sunday nor any moment in time. [Life everlasting].
Creation by the Creator life ever lasting.
All everything is of creation can't be separated as well.

I think the animals were herbivores?

I would agree, Alex (AHJE), with the sentiment of one not separating Christmas from Good Friday. I think I would agree with Alan (CinderAsh) that it more properly should be stated that one cannot separate Christmas from the Triduum of Easter, as you Catholics put it. And what Alan says of life as it burgeons in the wonder that surrounds us all.

Peace be with you!

Exactly, for as Galatians 4:4 tells us: Jesus Christ was BORN in the FULLNESS OF TIME. And it is right that we celebrate the Mystery of Eternity uniting with time or entering into human history. You can't have Good Friday without Christmas Day.

I try to understand a situation the way people saw it then and not with hindsight. I don't think Mother Mary was thinking of the crucifixion when Jesus was born.
