When does inquiry turn into rebellion? Rarely does a day go by that the Lord has not given me a teaching of some type. He does so by using circumstances (because He can control the circumstances), by using the Scriptures ( that is what it is for), and by His still small voice.
A couple of days ago, He asked me to look out a window. When I did a car drove by and it’s driver was driving with her head down. She appeared to be looking at something in her lap. There was a curve coming up, and she did navigate it ok but obviously it was not wise to take the curve while trying to look at something in her lap.
He told me, “There are those on the road who are driving with their heads down.”
Then He started giving me a teaching about, when does inquiry turn into rebellion?
He explained that an open door policy is an excellent idea, provided the head of the corporation can make time. Then even those with the least authority in the company can come in and talked to the one through whom all authority comes from. Perhaps they have an idea that would help get people through the line quicker, or maybe bring more people into the store. Then the head of the corporation could implement the action needed to accomplish the tasks needed to implement the idea.
There could be other equally important things to discuss also. Perhaps the person is not happy in the position they are in. That hurts productivity and moral also. Maybe it is because they and the manager they are under are not getting along. In that case a transfer might be necessary. It does not mean the person is necessarily not a team player. This is not a sign of rebellion.
Is it rebellion if someone comes through the door and just wants to point out problems, as they see them, to the head of the corporation? This is a little harder to determine. It really depends upon their motives does it? If the person is sincere and their concern is strictly for the corporation and are not, somewhere inside , just trying to take over or have someone else that they know take over the running of all or even part of the corporation, then it is not rebellion.
It is however rebellion if they are in any why trying to influence who is running all or part of the corporation and are not willing to listen to the those put in authority above them. This is exactly what rebellion is. A person saying, I want this person to be my leader instead, is looking to supplant the leadership. A person doing this is a rebel whether they realize it or not.
Rebel (reb’ al) n. one who resist the lawful authority of a government
That person is now trying to act as the voice of authority and they are not listening to the voice of authority.
A person like that is like a driver of a car, who is driving with their head down. They may be able to successfully navigate a few turns, but at some point they are going to run off the road.
“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming” Mat 24:42
This was a teaching that He gave me, probably because I had seen something that seemed strange the night before and couldn’t understand what was happening, so I asked Him about it. |
