| | Words Some parts of this post were accidentally deleted, sorry everyone. Healing words- I love you. I will pray for your need. I can see your point. I will pray about what you said. I dont really agree with your view but I do still care about you and the fellowship you provide, and I pray we can still see ourselves as brothers/sisters/brothers and sisters.
These are but a few examples, I would guess many of you would know more, and I would love to hear them, for they are beautiful words. Hurtful words - I hate you. The Lord will punish you. You are absolutely wrong. Your spirit is far from the Lord. You dont know what you are talking about. You are hateful. You speak evil/lies like your father the Devil.
I have been told many times that the Spirit sometimes leads us to say these things. It could be, I am not sure. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

| | Re: Words Young's Literal Translation:
Mt 12:35 The good man out of the good treasure of the heart doth put forth the good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure doth put forth evil things. And I say to you, that every idle word that men may speak, they shall give for it a reckoning in a day of judgment; for from thy words thou shalt be declared righteous, and from thy words thou shalt be declared unrighteous.`
According to Strong's, the word "idle' here means;
1. free from labor, at leisure
2. lazy, shunning the labor one ought to perform.
I see this warning us that before we speak, especially of things of God, that we need to do the work that makes the words right. If we are speaking of the Kingdom and spiritual matters, we need to first study and do the labor that wins us the knowledge to speak righteously, discerning also the spirit as when to speak and when to remain silent. And if we're to speak, it is to be of the good knowledge of our heart: out of love. If we are speaking of earthly things, we still need to do the work of love so that our words remain righteous, fulfilling the love commands that Jesus gave us.
Thank you for this reminder, Brad.

| | Re: Words We have the two kinds of Words, which you have described, but James says it should not be so:
"But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." James 3:8-10
No man can tame his own tongue, but for God in us it is possible. |

| | Re: Words Proverbs 15:1-2 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
Proverbs 15: 28 The heart of the righeous studies how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.
Proverbs 18: 6-7 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for ****s. A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare to his soul.
Nice thread! It seems like you have a really, really gentle spirit Brad, I like that about you... .
I believe the bible has alot to say about our words so it does have merit I think there are times some need a stronger word than others yet there are ways to say things and not be demeaning or ungodly. We all need to be reminded especially on a forum of how we use our words and should we question it we only need to look in the word to find that the bible speaks alot to this topic. |
