| | | One Thing That Irritates Me I have never really posted a thread like this before, but I have to mention one thing that sort of irritates me: Its that sort of holier-than-thou attitude that some people have in their posts.
Some people use a lot of high-falutin language regarding how they are "saved" and how often they pray and all that. But me? I'm just a sinner. I believe in God (obviously) and I try to do what's right, but I also keep it real: I can be a jerk sometimes, I toss out a curse every now and then, I might even go on a Saturday night bender once in a great while. I'm just an Irishman and a regular guy: No Mother Theresa here.
I was thinking about this after this give-and-take in another thread: Quote:

Just an Irishman, and a sinner. You know, a regular guy. | Quote:

I'm just a regular guy. I stub my toe and shout out a loud "G*d D*mn it" when I do. I'm a human being. Nobody here is an outright "Harlot" and nobody here is an outright "Virgin" (to use your descriptors). Most people fall somewhere in between. |
I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but I get a little weary of those who seem to try to float above the rest of us mere mortals. Oh, sure, I give strong opinions regarding my "beliefs", but I usually don't prop up myself as some great example, you know? Like, I had a person ask me once why a lot of Catholics often seem to go to church wearing sloppy clothes. My gut reaction was: " Show me a church full of starched white shirts and buffont hairdos, and I'll show you a bunch of phonys." My parish is full of sinners. Thats where I need to be.

I may be an adopted son of the Father, but I am still a mere man.
As for benders: Jesus' first miracle was to make a boat-load of wine for someone's wedding. Don't get me wrong: I am not justifying going out on regular binges, but us mere men like to bIow off a little steam every now and then and loosen up, you know?
Like I said: I keep it real. I don't pretend to be what I am not, although I do aim to be something better than what I was. |

Hey, Terry, I gotta Corona in my weekend suitcase and I'm on a thread as praying even in my sleep. Ya think that shows how I'm not finished yet? LOL. Been a couple odd weeks here lately, huh? Lot of big words of theology being used, some whoppers of subtle fighting, oh, and Michael doing his thing again. I'm seeing cycles as new folks come on or oldest hit a growth spurt in God. Factor in some coming from other forums where they have those bad other forum habits that many of us had when we came here, some just uncertain of this site and it's purpose, some out to save us all from ourselves. Stand true to yourself, Terry. None of us are perfect, none of us are finished; some of us are just more comfortable in letting that show then others. After all, we Christians aren't always known for our openness and acceptance of faults in "sinners". Pull up a rocker on the porch with Brad and I, pour yourself a cold one, and we'll chat. ( creak, creak, creak)

Being imperfect people in an imperfect world, do you think our Heavenly Father expects any more out of us than what you are 'aiming' for. |
