Hello everyone. This is not a suggestion for the administrators, but rather for all of us.
As the community grows, and the volume of posts increases, it will become more and more difficult to manage the amount of information that we all share.
As such, may I make a suggestion. When we quote a person, let's only quote the specific portion(s) of the OP to which we're replying. If we're replying in a general way, let's only quote the first and last lines with a couple elipses (…) in between to indicate ommitted content.
This simple thing will help us all control the amount of duplicate material in threads, and make keeping up to snuff a little less cumbersome. I admit that my interest in some threads wanes significantly when I cannot tell who has said what because there are multiple quotes containing multi-page-long quotes of earlier posts.
So, if you hate this idea and would love to say so, but don't want to quote each line individually, don't quote the entire post. Your post might look like this:
Quote:
"Hello everyone. This is not a suggestion for the administrators, but rather for all of us...
...I admit that my interest in some threads wanes significantly when I cannot tell who has said what because there are multiple quotes containing multi-page-long quotes of earlier posts."
Then would follow your comment.
Discuss this idea if you like, implement if you agree, and just go die if you don't! (Just kidding
