The church of Jesus Christ, His believing body on earth, recognizes that "our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20). The believing Christian agrees that he or she is migrant and a pilgrim.

To these believers, God has imparted His own nature. They have a distinct sense of belonging to one another while they live--almost as exiles--in an unfriendly world. These earthly citizens of heaven speak a common language--of their constitution, which is the Bible, the Word of God. They love to sing the songs of Zion, for they are loyal to the same Lord and King. Thus the Christians come together where the life of the assembly is the life of Christ.

This is the Bible pattern. God the Father is there. Christ the Son is present. The Holy Spirit indwells each member.... The spirit within us can experience and tastes the glories of God in blessed fellowship now. Such is the joyful purpose of the Church!


Next to God Himself we need each other most...

Psalm 133
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1[a]BEHOLD, HOW good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2It is like the precious ointment poured on the head, that ran down on the beard, even the beard of Aaron [the first high priest], that came down upon the collar and skirts of his garments [consecrating the whole body].(A)

3It is like the dew of [lofty] Mount Hermon and the dew that comes on the hills of Zion; for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life forevermore [upon the high and the lowly].

Psalms 1 Blessed is the man [or woman] who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, or stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates both day and night. He or [ her ] shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, which brings forth it's fruit in season. And whatever they do shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so. They are like the chaff the wind separates from the wheat and will **** away. Therefor the ungodly won't survive the judgment and sinful people won't be able to hide among the righteous. For the Lord knows who is righteous and will separate the ungodly from them. IMOW

We are so numerous, and yet, so few, we, who would be of this household of faith. Even though we stumble; even though we fall, onward to and through that strait and narrow gate into His everlasting arms are we bound. Alone, we are not, for we have Him, and we have one another. Glory to His name!
