An asteroid killed the dinosaurís, Bennu will kill us all

101955 Bennu (provisional designation 1999 RQ36)[9] is a carbonaceous asteroid in the Apollo group discovered by the LINEAR Project on 11 September 1999. It is a potentially hazardous object that is listed on the Sentry Risk Table with the second-highest cumulative rating on the Palermo Technical Impact Hazard Scale.[10] It has a cumulative 1-in-2,700 chance of impacting Earth between 2175 and 2199.[11][12] It is named after the Bennu, the ancient Egyptian mythological bird associated with the Sun, creation, and rebirth.

101955 Bennu has a mean diameter of 490 m (1,610 ft; 0.30 mi)

Bennu is the target of the OSIRIS-REx mission which is intended to return its samples to Earth in 2023 for further study.[15][16][17] On 3 December 2018, the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft arrived at Bennu after a two-year journey.[18] It orbited the asteroid and mapped out Bennu's surface in detail, seeking potential sample collection sites. Analysis of the orbits allowed calculation of Bennu's mass and its distribution.[19]

On 20 October 2020 OSIRIS-REx successfully touched down, using an extendable arm, on the surface of Bennu to collect a sample.[21]

The only reason I started this thread is to generate a conversation.

101955 Bennu is composed of very loosely packed rocks with a few the size of a two (2) story house. If it entered earthís atmosphere it would break up into thousands of pieces and burn up before reaching the ground.

Again, I should not have started this forum.

I thought it would just be a jumping point into a broader conversation.

Its not really the type of subject people here are interested in.

I pray you guys will reconsider your responses. If there is risk in this (and surely there is from other asteroids) then it raises concern and issues Christians must face. Even if we don't struggle with fear or even just distraction, surely our children might.
I think there are several important messages here:
1- In life there are many dangers and threats. A frequent question is why God permits them? Also, does He cause them? We have some very good threads here on these questions.
2- What is the proper response for Christians to threats? Some say just trust God and accept God's will. Others say respond as well as we can, and pray for God to help us. Personally I like the latter view, and I like the thought that our new Space force is probably looking into asteroids , although China, Russia and others seem a much more current threat.
3-How will we as citizens reflect our national security concerns in our upcoming vote?
Can we please be a little more encouraging to visitors and new members?
