Default The power of Jesus resurrection

Philippians 3:10 talks about Paul's wanting to know Christ and the power of his resurrection.
These sound good to us but Paul continued that he wanted to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death.

Question: If we want to share in Jesus sufferings and become like him in his death, can we do that ? or how ? or Paul just expressing his desire ?

Please share your insight.

You love Christ that much that you go to the cross, because it is your cross, and be sprinkled by His blood and the Spirit comes down to dwell within you and Jesus and the Father make a home with you and work through you.

The Apostles are the evidence of that because they went out into the world worshipping in spirit and truth at which we now have the testimony of Christ and His works and His sufferings and also the apostle's testimony of works and sufferings..

Would also love to see insight here. I mean not to suggest this an automatic feature in it’s usual use, but, isn’t it if our usual denials are being put to use?

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live sensibly, righteously, and godly, in this present world, ,

These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority, ,”

(Titus 2:11,12,15)

Hello ped.
Jesus Christ's mission was to become the Embodiment of Faith to show the world the Truth. Through that Truth, salvation became accessible to all who believed in Jesus Christ. Paul wished to emulate Jesus Christ's faith and fearlessness of bodily death. To transcend from flesh to Spirit.

.

Almost every use of the words, Suffer, Suffering, Suffered fall under the definitions listed below, which relate a persecution type of suffering, related to being and professing to be a Christian, and not necessarily unto a death type of suffering understanding.

Jas. 5:10
Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

1Pet. 2:19
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

G3804
πάθημα
pathēma
path'-ay-mah
From a presumed derivative of G3806; something undergone, that is, hardship or pain; subjectively an emotion or influence: - affection, affliction, motion, suffering.

G3805
παθητός
pathētos
path-ay-tos'
From the same as G3804; liable (that is, doomed) to experience pain: - suffer.

G3806
πάθος
pathos
path'-os
From the alternate of G3958; properly suffering (“pathos”)

G3958
πάσχω, πάθω, πένθω
paschō pathō penthō
pas'-kho, path'-o, pen'-tho
Apparently a primary verb (the third form used only in certain tenses for it); to experience a sensation or impression (usually painful): - feel, passion, suffer, vex.

G2552
κακοπάθεια
kakopatheia
kak-op-ath'-i-ah
From G3806; hardship: - suffering affliction.

There are a bunch more but they tend to say the same types of things only in different words.
Christians will be persecuted, and harassed because of their belief.

Of course, there are too many who know "of" Christ while saying that they know Him,. But, really knowing Him as God understands it is rather a different thing, is it not?

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matt 7:22-23

There are some promises of power in scripture that some people have laid hold of and we may see them in the light of the Egyptian magicians who imitated the manifestations of God through Moses, but they did not know God. Moses did.

In answer then to your question Ped, of "How?", just seemingly having a gift of healing or other apparent miracles is not enough, is it? We have to really "know" Him:

"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matt 7:20-21

So the fruits are the good fruits equal to, or at least found to be in conjunction in with the good works? Are not some of them described here?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." Gal 5:22-23

Remembering that they are the fruits of the Spirit, then the presence of the Spirit must be essential for anyone to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
