Does grace end when we go to heaven?

Contrary to the teachings of the "once saved always saved" sub-cult,sin can separate us from God at any time.Here is the clearest statement of biblical teaching I have found:

Hebrews 6:4-6 (Contemporary English Version)

4-6But what about people who turn away after they have already seen the light and have received the gift from heaven and have shared in the Holy Spirit? What about those who turn away after they have received the good message of God and the powers of the future world? There is no way to bring them back. What they are doing is the same as nailing the Son of God to a cross and insulting him in public!

Didn't I just read about another politician doing that?

Thanks frank. Do you consider grace to be solely for the purpose of salvation?

In the sense that grace is a part of God's character grace will never end. From the perspective that one day God will judge the earth that application of grace will come to an end. But God will always deal gracefully with His creation and people. To do other wise would be to deny Himself.

Eternity is one of the things of grace. Other things/works of grace shall abide as long as God abides.

There are other things resulting from the grace of God, which ultimately lead to salvation of the soul.

For example, the hope of God results from grace and precedes salvation of the soul:

2 Thess. 2:16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given [us] everlasting consolation and good hope through grace

Emphases are mine to confirm that an everlasting thing comes through grace.

The thought occured to me, that if the law is etenal then surely grace must then also be eternal.

If the glory of god is enternal, and it is...then the glory of gods grace must also be eternal.

Ephesians 2:6 also seems to hint at it

. 6And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

I wonder if the 'coming ages' include eternity.....

Hi christkid!

People have different ideas of what grace is. Some say its gods unmerited favour, which it is. But is that all it is?

If by gods unmerited favour we enter heaven, do we remain there on no merit at all but his unmerited favour? Does Grace sustain us now, and for eternity?

If we draw near to the throne room of grace, do we do that only now, and not when we are in heaven? Would there still be a need for the throne room of grace.

If by grace we have recieved one blessing after another, then when we go to heaven shall we receive them by some other means?

I know that its hard to answer these questions. But any input will certainly be helpful.

Always good to read your posts. Posting Ephesians 2:6 incontrovertibly establishes that the grace of God is eternal... especially as it relates to the coming age.

Let me ask a question, please: Does a beloved child merit good and durable gifts from the father?

If yes, how come it is that the good and durable gift of grace to God's beloved (to who the Son was sent) is "unmerited"?

It remains that the grace of God, by which comes salvation, is much more than is ordinarily defined by the dictionary meaning of grace.

If reported events past are to be seen as an indication grace is not a free pass for any and all unGodly conduct. Take the example of the devil. He also stood by grace but when his conduct exceeded the limits of God's grace towards him he was judged. Probably the same for us.

I think god gives us freely what he so desires because it gives HIM pleasure to do so. I think that his unmerited love shows his kindness towards us. Its not that we merit the blessings or the gifts but rather that he so chooses to demonstrate his kindness towards us in giving us such.

I figure that god loves his children because he chooses to. He gives because it is his nature to give good gifts and every advantageous thing to us. If he did not spare his son but gave him up for us all, how much more shall he give us every good thing? Grace is good right? I figure he must continue giving it then.
