| | | Many are called but few are chosen Many are called, but few are chosen.
The called out hear his voice. But few are chosen vessels. There are two folds that Jesus calles out, and they hear his voice.
But Jesus told his disciples that he chose them, they didn't choose to be with him.
Within the body of Christ, God has chosen us and placed us in the body where it pleases him. Those of us who have been chosen, have been sanctified, and justified in Christ. Christians set the example for others to follow. The followers of Christ are the "many", just like the multitudes that followed Jesus Christ in the four gospels. But his disciples were the one's who were with Christ all of the time. He corrected them and reproved them and taught them specifically the things pertaining to the two kingdoms.
Many are called, but few are called and chosen. No matter if you are one who is chosen or one of many who have been just called, this is a little hard to fully understand. Still, God is your Father and he loves you just as much as those who have been called and chosen. Both groups are saved, but both have different purposes to the will of God. Many times those who have been called, try and act like they are the chosen of God, and this is understandable. Lack of knowledge will always come into the fruition of the actual acknowledgement of one who loves God. But , we must try and understand our roles. He who is least is greatest in the kingdom of God. There should be no reason to address this issue of who is greater. We should acknowledge our role as God has called us out. Followers , follow.
Those chosen from before the foundation of the earth to be holy and without blame in Christ in love are to give others the example by which they are to follow. Seed Christians, those who have Christ in them, are ambassadors for Christ. They are to reconcile the world back unto God.
Those of us who were "chosen" were also baptized in his death and resurrection. It is no wonder , that some do not accept the gathering together of the saints prior to the tribulation period. Even though this is what will happen. The followers are not a part of the gathering up of the saints, and thus have not been enlightened to accept this fact, that Christ will come back in the clouds and the dead in Christ will be raised, and all those who are alive will be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air. So do not get over concerned about this fact.

| | Re: Many are called but few are chosen The "many are called" refers to those who claim to be called to serve Christ. Of course, today we have a plethora of preachers claiming the 'calling' of Christ. Yet, the sum total of the doctrines proffered by the 'called' is contradictory. Hence, it is fair to conclude that a great percentage of those 'called' are liars.
The "few are chosen" refers to those selected by God to serve Christ. As MM stated, they were chosen before the foundation of the world [in the first age]. They are the 'elect'. Those chosen first in the first age are here last in the endtime of this second age. |

Originally Posted by Josif59 I would like to rephrase the original statement and say all are called but few choose to pick up their cross and follow Jesus. | The truth is everyone everywhere has been selected (chosen) BY God according to his perfect will to have an opportunity to hear the uncompromised, cleansing redeeming heart healing life changing full Gospel message of the cross of Jesus Christ.
And this IS happening all over the world, in even the most remote regions OF the entire world.
The other side of this is not everyone will choose to accept Gods free gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
The lost do not have to wait for God to choose them, they have already been chosen by God, all the lost have to do is choose to believe that fact, and then choose to be accepted (chosen) by God.
As for the matter of one picking up their cross and following after Jesus well THAT is a daily issue which none of us do as we ought, we all fall short in that particular area, in more ways than one don't we? |

| | What I see is the multitudes, the many who leave the cross lay there and follow someone else. |

The Word of God does not back up your comment !
The Word states clearly, that "many" are called, not "everyone" !
Jesus said that my sheep hear my voice. |

Matthew 11:28.
Come unto me, all ye
that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
John 3:16-17:
16. For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not his Son
into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
Romans 10:13.
For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
1st Timothy 2:3-4:
3. For this is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Saviour;
4. Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
2nd Peter 3:9.
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward,
not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance.
According to this Biblical evidence
it looks like God's perfect will Is for
everyone everywere to be saved doesn't it?
God said it that settles it.

Amen Micheal, I guess thats one of the mysteries he has yet to learn.

| | | Re: Many are called but few are chosen God is a God of two of everything. The word "all" is not any different.
1. All - without exception
2. All - without distinction
When reading the Word of God, one "must" make the correct choice as to which definition of the word "all" is being used.
For instance - I Timothy 2:4 is # 2 - without distinction -- And II Peter 3:9 is also # 2.
When God tells us that he made "all" things for his pleasure, this is # 1. without exception.
Jesus Christ did not try and help those who were of their father the devil. Once they have made the devil their father, they have waved any right to salvation. Cain was of that wicked one - I John 3:12. Also read I John 3:10 - and I John 3:15 | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
