Not My Will (Thirty Second Devotonal)

Devotional
As Christians, we face a constant battle between the will of the flesh, and the will of the Father. Every day you have a choice to make. Will you choose to follow Jesus, or will you choose to follow your own fleshly desires. When Jesus prayed, it wasn't about His will, but about the will of the Father.

Scripture Reference
Luke 22:42
saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

Action Point
Like Jesus, we need to seek and to do the will of the Father. We need to go to Him in prayer, and say nevertheless not my will, but Yours, be done.

Who Are You Seeking (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Whom are you seeking? This was the question Jesus asked. Some people are seeking a teacher. Some are seeking a religious leader. Some are seeking a miracle worker, and some are seeking a healer. We need to be seeking after the Savior. It is one thing to know about Jesus, but another to know Jesus. Judas knew about Jesus, but did not have a relationship with Him.

Scripture Reference
John 18:4-5
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?" They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.

Action Point
Make it a priority in your life to have a relationship with Jesus. Get to know Him. Talk to Him, and spend time in the Word.

The Blood That Was Shed (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As we read the Bible, we need to look back to the past to understand the future events. The book of Hebrews ties both the Old and New Testaments together. The Passover lamb was a picture of Jesus, and the blood that He would shed for you and I. Without the shedding of blood, there would be no forgiveness of sin.

Scripture Reference
Hebrews 9:22
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Action Point
As we study the Bible, we need to reflect on the past, apply it to today, and look forward to the future. As Christians, we are forgiven because of the blood that was shed, and we look forward to our future in heaven.

Dead To Sin Alive In Christ (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Two men hung on the cross on either side of Jesus. They were both guilty, and deserving of death. Each man responded to Jesus. The first rejected Jesus and died in his sin. The other man received Jesus, and died to his sin that was paid for by the one who died for his sin.

Scripture Reference
Luke 23:33
And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.

Action Point
We all have a decision to make. Do we receive Him, or do we reject Him. Do we die to sin, and live for Christ, or do we die in our sin. Trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. If you are a Christian, tell others about Jesus. The choice is clear.

Keep Your Eyes On Jesus (ThirtySecond Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians, we need to avoid the things of this world that draw our attention away from the Lord. Peter stepped out of the boat in faith, but when he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink. Many times we like Peter step out in faith, but when we take our eyes off Jesus we stumble. It is in these times when we need to reach up to Jesus and let Him lift us up.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 14:30
But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"

Action Point
Even when we stumble, the Lord is there to forgive us and lift us up out of our sin. Remember that the Lord is always there. All we need to do is look up, and let the Lord take us by the hand.

Seek His Will (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Like Peter, we often times get in the way of God's will. We have the very best intentions, but we forget to look at it from God's perspective. We try to solve the problem in the flesh instead of in the spirit. It was no secret to the disciples, that Jesus was going to be betrayed, and crucified. Peter knew the will of the Father, but his own will got in the way.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 26:54
"How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?"

Action Point
As a Christian you need to seek God's will in everything that you do. Ask yourself what Jesus would do. Don't let your will get in the way of His perfect plan.

Christ Centered Message (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Any time we preach the gospel, our goal should always be to point people to Jesus and not ourselves. The message should not  be self centered, but Christ centered. It's a simple message, and we are simply a vessel that God has chosen to use. We are serving Him out of love as a bondservant.

Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 4:5
For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake.

Action Point
Remember that we are to bring the gospel message to the people. We are to proclaim the simple message of Jesus Christ everywhere you go. Keep your focus on Jesus, and what He has done, and not what you can do.

Grounded In The Word (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
It is not uncommon for people to question, or even challenge your faith and beliefs. People will have ideas that sound good, or even convincing. As Christians, we need to know what we believe and why. Search the scriptures. Search out wise council, and have the pages of the Bible written in your heart.

Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 6:20
O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge--

Action Point
Guard your heart, and mind against false knowledge. Study the Bible, and seek wisdom from God. Know what you believe, and why you believe these things. Make sure they are grounded firmly in the Word of God.

A Hand Up (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Often times as Christians the greatest gift we can give someone has nothing to do with money or possessions. Money and possessions could not change the lame mans circumstances. What made the difference, was when Peter took him by the hand and lifted him up in the Name of Jesus of Nazareth. It was then that the lame man received the strength to stand.

Scripture Reference
Acts 3:6
Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."

Action Point
As Christians, we need to give people a hand up instead of a hand out. If we are the body of Christ, then we need to reach out to others. Like Peter, we need to take them by the hand and give them the strength to stand in the mighty name of Jesus.

Take My Yoke (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians we are commanded to take His yoke upon us. The yoke served tree purposes. It was used for instruction, correction and for easing the load the was being carried. When you are yoked with Christ, He will guide you along the way, keep you moving in the right direction, and you won't have to carry the load by yourself because He is right beside you.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 11:29-30
"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Action Point
Take up His yoke, and let Him lead, guide and direct you in all that you do. As you take up the yoke, you will find that the burdens don't seem so heavy, and as He leads and guides you, you will find rest for your soul.
