Snow Forts (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
I remember as a child up in Minnesota, how we would build snow forts, and have snow ball fights. We knew that if we stayed in the snow forts, we would be safe from the snow balls that were being thrown at us. The minute we left the protection of the fort, we would surly get hit. If we abide in the LORD, then we are in a safe place.

Scripture Reference
Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

Action Point
The LORD knows those who trust Him. He provides a safe place for us to go. When we are in Him, the devil may attack us, but we are protected. Abide in Him, and He will protect you.

One Body (Thirty Second Devotonal)

Devotional
It is important as Christians to unite as one body. God doesn't care if you are a Baptist, a Methodist, a Lutheran, or a Pentecostal. When He looks at us, he will not see what church we attended, but will look at where our heart is. The only distinction He makes is whether a person is saved or lost.

Scripture Reference
Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Action Point

If they believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, they are your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:4-6)

Sing His Praises (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians, we need to be seen and heard. Our praise should not be limited to one hour a week, nor should it be limited to the four walls of the church building. We need to bring the church to the people, and His praises into the community. If we are excited about what God is doing, then we need to share it with others.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 108:3
I will praise You, O LORD, among the peoples,
And I will sing praises to You among the nations.

Action Point
Get excited about what God is doing, and share it with others. Become a contagious Christian. No matter where you are, you can share Jesus with others.

Can God Use Me? (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Throughout The Bible we see how God has used ordinary people in a mighty way. Shepherds proclaimed the birth. Fishermen became fishers of men. He used a tax collector, a tent maker, and a woman who was an outcast. There was nothing extraordinary about them, but God chose to use them.

Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 1:26
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

Action Point
God can use you in a mighty way. You don't have to be perfect. All you have to do, is be willing to let Him use you. Remember that it is not about what you can do for Him, but what He can do through you.

Getting Older (Thity Second Devotional)

Devotional
Let's face it, none of us are getting any younger. The older we get the more our muscles ache, and our joints hurt. It is tough getting older. The good thing is, that the older we get, the closer our relationship with Jesus grows. Our body may be getting old, but our faith is getting stronger.

Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 4:16
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

Action Point
Often times it is the testing of our faith, and the trials of life that bring us into a closer relationship with the Lord. It is during these times that we learn to depend on Him, and not on ourselves. Remember, it takes time to build a close relationship, and the longer you build, the stronger it gets.

The Five W's of Worship (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The last question in this series is "Why do we worship." There are many reasons to worship, but probably the greatest reason is because of what God has done for us. He sent His only begotten son to die in our place.

Scr
ipture Reference
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Action Point

Take time today, and let God know how thankful you are for His love for you. Worship Him because He is worthy of our praise, and adoration. He created us, He loves us, and He saved us, even when we were still sinners.

The Five W's of Worship (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The fourth question in this series is "Where are we to worship." If we only worship Him inside the church building, then we are not worshiping Him in spirit and in truth. We can be worshiping Him going down the street in our car, or in a room at home by ourselves. We can even worship Him in a crowded room.

Scripture Reference
John 4:21
Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Action Point
Worship Him wherever you are. You don't have to be in a sanctuary, or a building to worship God. You don't have to be in a certain city, or town. You can worship Him right where you are. Think outside the box.

The Five W's of Worship (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The third question in this series is "When are we to worship."  Some say Sunday, while others say Saturday. The fact is, we are to worship the Lord at all times, and in all we do. Worship is more than just an hour a week.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 34:1
I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Action Point
Are you just worshiping Him for an hour once a week, or are you worshiping Him at work, and at home? We are to worship Him at all times. Pray to Him before you get out of bed in the morning. Praise Him at work. Read your Bible, and tell others about Jesus. It is all part of worshiping Him.

12:23 PM   [23 Jan 2010 | Saturday]

The Five W's of Worship (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
In school, we always asked the 5 questions. Who, What, When Where and Why. The first question is Who! Who are we to worship? It is not me, it is not your pastor, and it is not your favorite football player. We are to worship the Lord, our God, and Him only.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 95:6
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

Action Point
Who are you worshiping? Are you worshiping God? Often times we go into worship with other people, and things on our minds. When we worship, the focus should be on only Him.

12:21 PM   [23 Jan 2010 | Saturday]

The Five W's of Worship (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The second question in this series is "What is worship." Many people think that going to church is worship. It is an act of worship, but going to church in it self is not worship. Worship is loving God with everything you have, and are. If we are just going through the motions, then we are not truly worshiping.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 22:37
Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

Action Point
Have you been worshiping God, or just going through the motions? We need to be like the football fans when it comes to worship. There should be no question of who's team we are on, and we should be exited about telling others. Talk about God with the same zeal that you talk about the big game.
