The Prodgal Son Pt 4 (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
One thing I have learned from experience, is that during hard times you find out who your real friends are. He had lots of friends when his pockets were full, but when the money ran out, the worldly friends had disappeared. He was in a far country with no money, and no friends.

Scripture Reference
Luke 15:14
"But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.

Action Point
As a Christian, you have a friend who will never leave you nor forsake you. It doesn't matter where you are, or what your situation is. He will stick by you. All you have to do is call, and He will be there.

The Prodigal Son Pt 3 (Thirty Second Devotinal)

Devotional
This world has nothing to offer. It may promise you fame, and fortune, but in the end it will leave you bankrupt and destitute. The son had everything he needed at home, but he journeyed to a far country, and spent all he had. He was no longer safe in his fathers arms.

Scripture Reference
Luke 15:13
"And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.

Action Point
There is no better place in the world to be than in the presence of the Father. The world may glitter, but it's beauty will fade. It is only in His presence, that we can truly shine.

The Prodigal Son Pt 2 (Thirty Second Devotinal)

Devotional
People who are in the world, focus on material things. They are always looking for the greener grass on the other side of the street. The father gave the son a great gift, but it wasn't the portion of goods. The true gift was freedom to choose. In the same way, God has given us the same choice. Do we choose the world, or do we choose to follow Him.

Scripture Reference
Luke 15:12
"And the younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.' So he divided to them his livelihood.

Action Point
God gave us a great gift. We can either receive it, or reject it. Remember that it is only by being free to choose, that we can truly love Him.

The Prodigal Son Pt 1 (Thirty Sevond Devotional)

Devotional
Many people read about the prodigal son, and miss the point that there were two sons. Even though they both had the same father, they both responded in a different manner. In the same way, many people respond to God in a different way. Some will receive Him, while others will reject Him.

Scripture Reference
Luke 15:11
Then He said: "A certain man had two sons.

Action Point
There are only two classes of people before God. You are either saved, or lost. You are either abiding with the Father, or living in the world. As Christians, we need to share the gospel with those living in the world, and lead them to the Fathers house.

God Can Handle It (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Whenever you think your situation is too big for God to handle, just take a look at the night sky. Consider that the one who placed the stars in the sky, and the moon and planets in orbit, is the one who is in control of your situation. There is nothing too hard for God. We just need to let go, and give it to God.

Scripture Reference
Jeremiah 32:17
'Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

Action Point
The next time you are facing a tough situation, remember that God can handle it.

Stiff Necked (Thity Second Devotional)

Devotional
Many people still live like the Israelites in the desert. They were stiff-necked. They heard the Word of God, and they saw what He had done, yet they still lived in disobedience. There is only one way to escape the wrath of God. That way is through faith in Jesus.

Scripture Reference
2nd Chronicles 30:8
"Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD; and enter His sanctuary, which He has sanctified forever, and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of His wrath may turn away from you.

Action Point
The saints in the Old Testament and New Testament were all looking at the cross. They were just looking from a different point of view. Jesus is the Passover Lamb in the book of Exodus, the Kinsman Redeemer in the book of Ruth. He is the perfect sacrifice in the book of Hebrews, and the Alpha and Omega in the book of Revelation. Look to the cross of Calvary, and trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

An Effective Weapon (Thirty SecondDevotional)

Devotional
A weapon is only good if one knows how to use it. I remember one time going to an archery range to shoot a bow and arrow. I couldn't hit the target if my life depended on it. I did not know how to use the weapon. In the same way, many people try to fight spiritual battles with the Word of God only to find out that they don't know how to use it.

Scripture Reference
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Action Point

Study the Word of God. It is only then that you can fight the battles ahead. The Word of God is powerful, but it will not be effective sitting on the shelf. Study it, and learn how to use it effectively.

Be Quiet and Listen (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Like most people, I don't like to wait, however, I have learned to be patient when it comes to God. Often times it is in the quiet moments when He has your attention, that He will speak to your heart. He will wait for a time when you are ready to hear what He has to say.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 25:5
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

Action Point
Take 15 minutes of quiet time each day to listen to what God has to say. Remember that you can't hear from God if your doing all the talking. Be patient, and wait on the LORD.

Spread The Word (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The other day, I received an e-mail that I had seen several times over the last couple of years. After doing some research, I found out it had been written over ten years ago. It went from one person to another, and has been circulated all over the world. In the same way, we are to spread the gospel message. It starts with you, and has the potential to reach to the ends of the earth.

Scripture Reference
Acts 8:4
Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.

Action Point
Take the time to tell others about Jesus. As Christians, we are called to share the gospel, whether it be at home, work, through e-mail, or even on the Internet.

The Name Of God (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Have you ever stopped to think of how holy the name of God is. The Jewish people would avoid writing the name of God for fear that it might be defaced. The scribes held the name of God in such high esteem, that they had a special pen that they only used to write God's name. When we pray we are entering the Holiest of all places. He is Holy, Holy, Holy. Lord God almighty.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray:   Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Action Point
Stop for a second, before the next time you pray. How are you going to approach your Father in heaven? Will you just casually say His name, or will you reverence His name?
