Listen and Obey (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians, we need to learn to listen to what the Holy Spirit has to say. He may not always lead us in the direction we want to go, but He will always lead us in the right direction. All we have to do is be obedient, and leave the results up to God.

Scripture Reference
Acts 11:12
"Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.

Action Point
When the Holy Spirit is speaking to you, listen to what He has to say. As Christians we are to trust and obey, and leave the results to God.

Vain Repetition (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
I remember several years ago when the only two prayers I knew were the Lords prayer, and the blessing we said at dinner time. Though these prayers were good to know, they were repeated and became ritualistic. It was vain repetition of a prayer. God doesn't need to hear our fancy words. He wants to hear what is in our heart.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:7
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

Action Point
When you go to the Lord in prayer, say what is in your heart. Talk to Him like He is your best friend. Open your heart, and let it pour out.

Wisdon and Understanding (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
When reading the Bible, we need to have wisdom, yet wisdom is nothing without understanding. You may study how a motor is built, and may be able to explain it in detail, but if you don't understand how it all works, you will not be able to get the motor started. In the same way, we need to have an understanding of scripture to be able to apply it to our lives.

Scripture Reference
Proverbs 2:2
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;

Action Point
When you read the Bible, seek the understanding of what God is trying to teach you. Knowledge is powerful, but wisdom is golden.

Define Prosperity (Thirty Second devotional)

Devotional
How do you define prosperity? To some, it may be how much money they have, or the cars they drive, or a good job. Yes, God may bless you, but true prosperity is not found in money, and things. If we seek after God, and His righteousness, then we will be blessed with things like peace, hope, joy, and love.

Scripture Reference
3rd John 1:2
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Action Point
Seek after the things that money can't buy. You will truly prosper if you put your trust in Jesus. You will have the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and you will have treasures in heaven. (Matthew 19:21). Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.(Matthew 6:33)

Face The Future With Confidence (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians, we can face the future with confidence. Though trouble may come, we know that we are safe in the arms of the LORD. Like a loving father, He protects and cares for each of His children, and knows them all by name.

Scripture Reference
Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.

Action Point
The next time trouble comes, call on the Father, and let Him go out before you. Know that you are fortified on all sides by His mighty power.

A Great Calm (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Often times like the disciples, we find ourselves in the midst of a raging sea. The waves are beating against us from all sides, and we feel as though we are about to drown. Jesus was there in the boat with the disciples, but it wasn't till they called out to Him, that Jesus calmed the storm.

Scripture Reference
Mark 4:39
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Action Point
When you are in the midst of life's storms, remember that Jesus will bring peace. All we have to do is call on His name, and trust Him in the situation.

He Spoke It Happened (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
What a mighty God we serve. To think that the earth and all living things were spoken into existence. It's beauty could not have been designed or built by even the most skilled craftsman. God said let it be, and it was.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 33:9
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

Action Point
Praise God for all that He has made. From the smallest cell to the vastness of the universe. God spoke it, and bang, it happened.

God Speaks (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Just as God spoke to Moses through the burning bush, and spoke to Adam in the garden of Eden. God still speaks to us today. The question is, are we able to hear His voice. Often times when we come to God in prayer, we come with our shopping list. We give it to God and then say, well that's it for now. Part of prayer is listening to what God has to say to us. Prayer is a 2 way street. Give God a chance to reply.

Scripture Reference
Hebrews 1:1-2
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

Action Point
I believe that God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. We need to talk less and listen more. Listen to what God has to say to you.

He Never Changes (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The word of God never changes. The problem is, that like the Pharisees, man tries to change the laws to fit their own needs. They add to it and ignore the things they don't like. Christianity is not like Burger King. You can't have it your way. There's only one way and that's God's way. "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:14

Scripture Reference
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Action point
Any teaching needs to be held to the fire of God's word. Don't take for granted that everything you hear is true. Don't get caught up on the little things. Some times other denominations do things different. The question that we need to ask ourselves is this. Is it biblical?

A Memorial (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
As Christians, we can make a difference. Often times we wonder what one person can do. The question we should be asking is; what can Christ do through me. A simple act of worship can be a powerful testimony to others around you. When God is in it there is no limit.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 26:13
"Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."

Action Point
Let everything that you do be a testimony to what Christ has done. Worship Him in your work, at home, and even at play. When they remember you, they will say you were a child of God.
