No Cheap Imitations (hirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Yeas ago the comedian Charlie Chaplin entered a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest. When the judging was done, the real Charlie Chaplin lost the contest. Many were deceived by imitators. Jesus said many will come saying that they are the Christ. If you are a Christian you will know when the real Jesus comes, for when He does, you will be caught up with Him in the rapture.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 24:4-5
And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.

Action Point
Don't settle for a cheap imitation. Read the word of God, and get to know Jesus. It is only through a personal relationship with Him, that you will be able to enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Spirit's Leading (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The Holy Spirit is in all believers. In times when you don't know what to say, listen to the Holy Spirit. He will bring scriptures to your remembrance. He will give you the words to say. Let the Holy Spirit lead, guide, and direct you in all that you do.

Scripture Reference

John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Action Point

Listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you. When you don't know what to say, He will put the words in your mouth. He will speak through you.

Paid In Full (Thirty Second Devotional

Devotional
Many people look at the Bible as a set of rules and regulations that are impossible for anyone to follow. It is only when they realize they can't do it on their own, that God reveals to them their need for a Savior. Jesus did not come to condemn the world, but to save the world through His sacrifice on the cross to pay the price we couldn't pay.

Scripture Reference
John 3:17
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Action Point
The next time someone says they can't live up to God's standards, look at them and admit that you can't either. That's the reason I need Jesus. He paid the sin debt in full so that I wouldn't have to. I deserved judgement, but I received grace.

Witnessing Opportunities (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Often times some of the greatest opportunities to witness are also some of the greatest challenges you can face as a Christian. As you begin to witness to others, you will find our self on the front line, and fully engaged in spiritual warfare. You will face adversity, but the joy of seeing someone come to the Lord is well worth the effort.

Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 16:9
For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

Action Point
Pray that God will open up doors of opportunity for you to witness to people, and be prepared for a battle. Spend time in prayer, and in the Bible. Most importantly, rely on God, and not your self. Ask Him for the words to say, and to open up the heart of the person you are witnessing to.

Getting Ahead of God (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Have you ever tried to get ahead of God? I think we all have at one time or another. God has His plans in place. Things may not happen when we want them to, but when we let God do the work, the outcome is often times better then we could ever imagine. We will have run the race, and finished well.

Scripture Reference
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Action Point
God has a plan for every one of His children. Let Him prepare the way. If we get ahead of God, then we will stumble and fall. If we wait on the Lord, then we shall mount up with wings like eagles, We shall run and not be weary, We shall walk and not faint.

The Just For The Unjust (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
When Jesus died on the cross, He took my place. A just man paid the penalty for my sins, so that I wouldn't have to. The most amazing thing is, that it was because of His love for me that He bled and died. It was through His sacrifice on the cross, that I can  boldly go before the throne of God, not as a sinner, but as a son.

Scripture Reference
1st Peter 3:18
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

Action Point
When you get down on your knees to pray, remember the price that was paid for your sins. It is only through the shed blood at Calvary, that we can enter into His holy presence.

Is Jesus In You? (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Everything that we do as Christians should be a reflection of Christ, and His love towards us. No matter where you are, or what you are doing you should be a walking example of who Jesus is. One of the greatest compliments we can ever receive as Christians is to have someone say "I can see Jesus in you."

Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 4:12
Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Action Point
Can people see the Jesus in you? Are you reflecting His love in all that you do? If you are living for Jesus, then people will know. They will see His light shining in, and through you.

Facing A Giant Pt 9 (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Just like with David, we have to put our faith into action. It is one thing to say you have faith that your car will stat in the morning, but you don't put your faith into action till you turn the key to start the car. In the same way, David put his faith into action when he slung the stone at Goliath.

Scripture Reference
1st Samuel 17:49
Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

Action Point
Put your faith into action. If God is speaking to you today, listen to what He is saying. Maybe it's a call to service, or a call to salvation. Whatever the situation is, God is waiting for you to take action.

Facing A Giant Pt 8 Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
The world may come at you with everything it has, but you have one thing that the world doesn't have. 1st John 5:4 says For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. David came in the name of the LORD, in faith.

Scripture Reference
1st Samuel 17:45
Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Action Point
When the world comes against you, hold on to your faith in the LORD. It is that faith that will move mountains, tear down walls, conquer the enemy, and give you the victory.

Facing A Giant Pt 7 (Thirty Second Devotional)

Devotional
Why do people still deny the power of His name? God is not silent, nor has He hidden from us. All you have to do is look up in the sky, or watch a storm roll in, to see His power at work. Goliath was relying on his own strength, and couldn't look beyond himself to see what God was about to do.

Scripture Reference
1st Samuel 17:42-43
And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking. So the Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

Action Point
Things aren't always as they appear. David may have been small, but his faith was great. If we just look at things on the surface, we will often times miss the treasure that is hidden inside. A package may have a plain brown wrapper, but it's what's inside the package that counts.
