Christ-Fellowship

~ Are You Truly Fellowshipping With God? ~

Fellowship with God  ~  Because of the blood of Christ Christians are able to fellowship with all three members of the Trinity.  The death of The Messiah on the Cross paid for our sins and secured fellowship—a restoration of relationship—with Him and also with the Holy Spirit and with God the Father.

Fellowship with The Father  ~  “That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.  And these things we write to you that your joy may be full” (1 John 1:3-4).

Fellowship with The Son  ~  “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead” (Philippians 3:10-11).  “That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.  And these things we write to you that your joy may be full” (1 John 1:3-4).

Fellowship with The Spirit  ~  “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14).  “Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (Philippians 2:1-2).

The Bottom Line  ~  “Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther.  But they constrained Him, saying, ‘Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.’  And He went in to stay with them” (Luke 24:28-29).  Take note of a couple of things.  (1) The disciples asked Him to stay with them.  He does not force Himself on anyone.  Jesus Christ does not play favorites with His children—but He allows us to choose to be intimate with Him.  (2) The reason we are not more intimate with our Savior is because of our own choices!  (3) By busying our lives with other activities, instead of fellowship with Christ, we miss blessings.  (4) All of our life should be in constant communion with Him—regardless of whatever else is occurring.  That would be a “normal” (versus “average”) Christian life.

Continuing in that same passage we find that the resurrected, glorifed Lord Jesus Christ wants to fellowship with those who are His own.  But only His own—He only fellowships with those who believe in Him and seek Him!  And they said to one another, ‘Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?’  So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, ‘The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!’  And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread” (Luke 24:32-35).

the key question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
