For Christians, Jesus is our model and standard, a very high standard indeed. This blogger (me) believes no human even came close. But should we all reject ourselves ? No , definitely not, but patiently , lovingly strive to be like Jesus.
And we can not be like Jesus on our own, we need help from above, from God through the Holy Spirit.
Our results will vary and we need not compare ourselves with one another but as our Lord commands , let us love one another.
Waiting or to wait is one of the hard things we humans have to do. Yet the Bible says those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Noah had to work on the ark for many years. Abraham waited many years to have his own son as promised by God.Joseph one of the sons of Jacob waited 22 years before seeing the dream God gave him to be fulfilled.Even our Lord Jesus Christ waited 18 years before starting His ministry.
Maybe you have something that you have been waiting for but seems impossible now. But if God promised it, it will be fulfilled.
For me I believe the greatest battle ever fought is at the cross by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
At the cross was shown the greatest obedience by our Lord to His Father. At the cross was shown the greatest love of God to His creation. Jesus made the greatest sacrifice at the cross. Satan met his greatest miscalculation and defeat at the cross. Salvation of souls is made possible at the cross. At the cross was accomplished the greatest turn around from the most painful way of execution to being the symbol of life.
Do you have anything greater battle than the cross ?
Perhaps the next greatest battle for us is whether we will believe Jesus and obey and accept Him as our Lord and Savior forever.
The battle is already won by our Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe and obey and have faith and endure to the end then we are included in the victory.
I believe even a matured Christian can still learn from another Christian even from another church. For example for a long time i thought praying unceasingly means to pray continuously but a better term is persistently.
Some Christians are set in their ways but nothing is happening much in their life. Perhaps they or we need more revelation of truth.
Do you believe your prayers will not be answered, then fellowship with those who believe their prayers will be answered ?
If our prayers are mostly asking then we need more thanking and praising.
But there is caution too, be sure you're the same in major beliefs. And make sure as much as you can discern that you're both led by the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 5:44 says (Jesus)But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully, and persecute you;
That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:for He makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain on the justand on the unjust.
to the readers: can we apply this ? yes I believe we can. It tells us to personally love and bless our enemies. I used to say God bless you and God loves you to those i disagree with but i should personally love and bless them myself. Do you see the difference ? often we say i hope something bad happen to them, but that's revenge.
Anyway to love and bless our enemies frees us from harmful thoughts and deeds and so we will enjoy our life. But what about our enemies ? Well they are in God's hands.
Christians are not judges but encouragers. Encouragers of what ? The way of Jesus, that is, a very high standard indeed. The way to get there is inch by inch, and sometimes we fall further back but we will get up and attempt it again.
Let's encourage others who need help. .The New Testament mentioned two races one in I Corinthians 9:24 wherein one receive the prize, another race is mentioned in Hebrews 12:1 wherein finishing is the goal. I was born after World war II wherein I heard there was a death march from Bataan to Corregidor, while this is what war does , the Christian life is death to life march with Jesus Christ winning the victory for us.
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame...
In short Jesus ran the race and He is also running with us to make sure we finish the race. Is'nt that reassuring and comforting?
