The heaven I am talking about is the location where God's throne is. God is everywhere but the Bible says in heaven is God's throne. Some claim that they have seen heaven, I mean people living today but I have not seen it yet.By faith I believe there is heaven.
It is hard to prepare for something we have not seen but not to prepare for it is a gamble.
In the Christian belief we are told that Jesus Christ came down from heaven to save people from their sin. What is sin ? Sin is not obeying God or living our own way. Why do we need to obey God ? God is our Creator so we are responsible or accountable to Him. How do we know He is our Creator ? You may say we came from our parents, but if we keep tracing where did our parents came from, and where their parents came from and so on and so forth , and the Bible says we came from Adam and Eve who were created by God.
Perhaps you are not fully convinced but where did we come from ? By faith I believe the Bible.
Faith is believing something we have not seen. According to the Bible without faith it is impossible to please God.
How do we know there is God ? God revealed Himself to man beginning with Adam and to his descendants. If you want more details, they can be found in the Holy Bible.
How do we know the Holy Bible is true ? It is a collection of God's revelation to man. It is a long story but it can be traced.
Wow, where are we ? we started with when to prepare for heaven, now we are talking about the Holy Bible.
Would you believe the Holy Bible is our operating manual to heaven ?
You may say the Holy Bible is hard to read, yes it is but there is a key. The key is Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you want to know more. Ask your priest, a Christian pastor, a Christian friend,or other Christians, perhaps my other blogs have it.
p.s. the answer to when to prepare for heaven is now. The thief who died with Jesus in the cross did not know much. All he said was "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom. Luke 23:42.
Jesus answered Today you shall be with me in paradise.
in closing: know more about the Christian faith, before Jesus calls us home.
Often we humans look horizontally. At eye level, whether television, internet, politics, even at the level of what our understanding etc. It is also wise to do this while we are still on earth.
My simple question is do we ever look up ?where help comes from. According to my electronic Bible, look up occured 61 times in the Bible, 45 times in the Old Testament and 16 times in the New Testament.
One of my favorite verse on looking up is Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to pass, then look up and lift your heads; for your redemption draw near.
Verse 27 says And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Question : Are we waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ ? I do , how about you ?
Today I happen to remember 1964 I was in grade 5. In one of those days our teacher asked us to help in checking examinations. How can we do that ? we do that by having the authorized answers called key to correction. What does this got to do with Christian blogs ? Simply this, we Christians have different churches claiming to be the truth yet we disagree in some matters.
Who then has the truth ? God has the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him. John 14:6.
Most of our life we go through many examinations but for every examination there is a set of right answers, we call by many names one of which is key to correction.
In life God has all the answers. We can only go by His answers, and not by our answers. He is open with His answers when we ask for them.
Simple it is not ? it only becomes hard when we refuse to accept His answer. Jesus is still the answer.
In sports after each year's activities teams are already looking forward for what they will do next year. Trades, drafts, etc. anything to get their respective teams better.
But what about us Christians ? Are we contented with our status ? are we coasting along ? How about being better ? Are we going to wait for next year ?
In Philippians 3:14 the apostle Paul said he press toward the mark for the prize calling of God in Christ Jesus.
According to the Bible , we are to be led by the Spirit. We may ask how can that be ? Again the Bible says , be humble. Feed on the word of God by setting some time to read the Bible and pray for understanding and how we can apply them in our daily life.
Let's look forward to being led by the Spirit, in love, in grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Should Christians be poor or prosperous ? Let us look in the Bible what is true and false prosperity. Briefly, if we use prosperity for the Lord then it is preferable than using prosperity just for ourselves. Let us look at two examples. David and Solomon , Jesus and Judas.
God prospered David and David used most of the resources to build or provide materials for God's temple while Solomon appeared to have been overcame by prosperity by having many wives etc. and his love for the Lord suffered.
Jesus left heaven and its glory , to redeem mankind from sin while Judas faced with having Jesus forever decided to betray Jesus in exchange for thirty pieces of silver.
Our Lord Jesus by sacrificing received more from God the Father, while Judas had the wrong choice.
Some preachers and Christians are accused of teaching and following wrong prosperity, do they ? or do they just look that way ? Can we see their hearts ? How about our hearts ? Let us hope our heart is in Jesus.
Perhaps you too saw how the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Championship and how Lebron James got overcome by emotion after the final seconds of game 7. Yes tears of joy.
I do not know if we Christians realize that through Christ we also have joy like that even more. Jesus won the victory for us.
In sports ,in every championship, we see the winners celebrate at the end of the game. For Christians, let us remember the cross, one in which Jesus our Lord, shouted "It is finished" ( our sins are paid in full).
Here is the difference, in sports the glory soon fades, every year the previous winner may repeat or a new winner will be crowned but for Christians, Jesus Christ already won the victory, once and for all, an eternal victory.
Let us keep our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. When we feel empty, exhausted, sad etc, come to Jesus. Let us be renewed and refreshed.
First to our Heavenly Father or our Father who is in heaven through His Son ,our Lord Jesus Christ and then to our fathers in earth, those who have gone to the afterlife and those who are living with us today.
I first heard this phrase fifty five years ago in school. This is when an exam's allowed time has expired. In our individual life we are given by God sufficient time to find Him, to know Him, in short to find out the meaning and purpose of life.
Have you found God ? the meaning and purpose of life ?
Going back to the exams, the best result we could get is when we study for the exams, in other words we prepare for it. Same as our life with God, we prepare as best we could.
If I may share, what is the core or summary of my 63 years of earthly life. " Love Jesus and love like Jesus".
I read in 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
I thought out of the three I or we can only select one, so I chose love to ask from the Lord and He gives as I am able to receive and apply (I am still growing.) As I learn though love is the greatest I am still lacking in others but what will I do i already made my request.
The answer came in 1 Corinthians 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts;..Check your Bible , it says "gifts", it is not ? It is also says " best gifts".
Therefore we can ask for more than one gift.I am asking for faith and hope too and more. I suggest you do the same, there's abundance to go around.
What do I mean by desperate situation ? I mean when we are at our end, that we are almost empty, our patience is about to run out. When we feel we areabout to exhaust what God has given us. When we do not know what else to do.
Let us look at our Lord Jesus. He said in John 4:14 and 6:35 and other related verses that those who come to Him and drink the water that He will give will never thirst. He is the living water. Yet in Matthew 25:35 and John 19:28 Jesus said He is thirsty. Looks like Jesus is in desperate situation.
In John19:28 Our Lord is about to die from crucifixion and about to accomplish His mission which is to die for our sins. If He is thirsty it means He gave His all. In Matthew 25:35 He was telling us to share our earthly goods like water to those who need it.
What about us ? These last few days, I seem empty, I told the Lord, the temptations of the world is about to get me, my flesh is about to come out. What the Lord seems to tell me is why am I saving the flesh in me ? Get rid of the whatever sins or fleshly attitude I have. Be filled with Jesus, be filled with the Spirit, get rid of our fleshly residue.
I do not know if we will be completely empty of our fleshly attitude but none of those should remain.
I believe in God,in Jesus , in Christ, in the Spirit we can.
