I believe the Christian community will become more united as we let Jesus grow in us. How do we let Jesus grow in us ? First how do we know Jesus is in us ? He is with us through faith, by repenting of our sins and accepting His gift of pardon, and having Him as Lord and Savior. Is this easy ? Well this is a lifelong process or commitment. Jesus is also in us through the Holy Spirit who is promised by God.
There were times I wanted to give up due to encountering failures in my life but God kept me going through His grace. God also gave people in my life to help me grow and continue.
I hope this blog will encourage you to grow in Jesus just as I am growing too.
Friday is the day I mop the floor and I am dreading it. I was engaging in pity party when I realized this is not right I should be thanking the Lord for the day and my ability to still move around. Let us look at the big picture of life.
When we filll our life with worry, stress, negative thoughts, fear, anger etc. our life will show it because what we put in or the parts we gather will accumulate.
As Christians we see the example of Jesus Christ our Lord, on humility, forgiveness, love, obedience etc. And we see His glory from the way He lived.
Looking back at my life, I allowed worry and fear etc. to be part of my life. Let this be my confession to you but it is not too late for me to make adjustment in my life. I should look at duties and responsibilities with faith and face them with joy.
Is the sinner's prayer unbiblical as some claim ? my answer is it is biblical. First let me share Biblical examples. II Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 51(one of the psalms of David), the prodigal son, the centurion's words (he is not worthy..).The example of the publican and the Pharisee. One of the thieves on the cross.Apostle Paul called himself the chief of sinners.
Sinner's prayer can be expressed in non verbal ways like Zaccheus, Mary Magdalene etc. Jesus says " sin no more".
What am i saying is the sinner's prayer is not written in stone but one of the ways to express repentance.
Our Lord looks at the heart, so if we have to pray the sinner's prayer, let it be from the heart.
Bottom line, it is God who saves us. God leads us to repentance.
Do you know your soul is worth more than the whole world ? Our soul is worth more than the combined wealth of the nations, more than the combined riches of the 1000 richest individuals in the world.
The Bible says what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and loses his soul.
Let us look at what this is saying. Each individual has a soul, the real us who is created by God. God owns our souls. Because of sin our soul got into jeopardy, our soul will die, died or is dying unless we are saved.
The question is who will save our souls ? The true God will save our souls.
Who is the true God ? The God for us is the one we trust. But the world has different Gods or gods.
Our role then is to seek or find the true God and then love Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
If you ask me, my true God is the One described in the Holy Bible. My God also told us to go unto all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father , and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything Jesus has commanded us and surely He will be with us even unto the end of the age.
I pray that you too will seek the true God and come to Him. By coming to Him you are making sure your soul is safe.
Denying self, taking up cross and following Jesus.
Let us take a simple look at these three steps. Denying self or giving up your wants is probably the hardest . After 40 years of reading the Bible, these phrase still gives me problem and the reason could be I am thinking of doing it myself.
John the Baptist said he must decrease and Jesus must increase.
Paul had to give up his status as one of the leading Pharisee of his time to follow Jesus.
How are we to do this today ? Perhaps the secret is to make ourselves invisible and Jesus visible. For us to deny ourselves credit and give glory to others and Jesus. But often , we hear what about me?
Let us look again, I believe the more we can follow or lift Jesus up, the free-er we become. How would you do it ? By God's grace and mercy I believe is the answer.
Grace of God is unmerited favor, something we did not deserve. God gives grace to us through His Son Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit.
Are there anything left for Christians to do ? After a Christian receives Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, he or she lives and walks in the Spirit. The Christian at this point realizes that he or she now depends on the Holy Spirit and not on his or her own power. It took me a very long time to realize this.
Does that mean that a Christian life is an easy street ? Let us look at the life of apostle Paul. After he became a Christian through the grace of God, he still suffered many things, he was stoned, beaten, experienced ship wrecks, sleepless nights, hunger etc. In today's world like in the West it seems we hardly experience those.
Shall we ask God, is there anything He can use us for ?
