This may seem contradictory but it is not. Joining a cruise is supposed to be fun but I learned a valuable lesson.I can not take that as always a given. Here is the situation ,normally I heard travel is fine, the weather is good and seas are smooth. But we encountered a rare situation, the sea was rough. And I succumbed to sea sickness. My wife even had to go to the medical office to see what is good for me. I have to take some piill to try to remedy the problem.
I have a history of motion sickness since I was a little boy, so I knew it is not going to be easy. Being a Christian,I called on God with the best prayers I can utter. Even asked God to calm the sea, or slow down the ship. But seems the more I pray the stronger the ship shakes.
I was struggling and agonizing for the longest time it seems. Finally I prayed, let God's will be done.Prior to that it seems I was emptying everything that was inside of me. I kid you not, shortly after I prayed whatever You want Lord! I felt a calmness and peace inside of me.Even when the shaking continued I felt i was in good hands.
I now remember that day a humbling experience and saw the value of waiting on God.
I do not know about you, but I still have the tendency to look at circumstances, or things happening around me. Faith tells me to look at Jesus always but sometimes my eyes wander and when I see something my mind starts calculating what 's next. Usually my calculation tends to be negative.
When that happens I start looking for Bible verses to calm me down. Words like " fear not" , "be anxious for nothing"," cast your cares upon Him for He cares for you". Thoughts like " if Jesus gave His life for us, then other things are easy for Him to give."
One of the inspiring stories in the Bible is Joseph. Joseph is one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Joseph was sold for slavery by his brothers. Joseph's circumstances appear to be one bad event after another but Joseph kept steady never complaining and that went on for about twenty two years then finally God's plan for him came true. God was preparing him for all those years. Joseph's story is in the book of Genesis.
Another story is that of Peter, he was walking on water as long as his eyes is on Jesus, but when he looked at the waves , he started sinking. But Peter to his credit , knew how to call on Jesus, and he called and Jesus saved him.
If we found ourselves getting afraid with what we see around us or with us, remember Joseph, remember Peter, remember Jesus and remember God loves us.
I hope this question makes sense to you, because when we travel whether it is for a few days, weeks or a month or two, we make sure that we carry what we need. We make a list and see to it that we have them.Going to heaven from earth is the most important travel that we will ever make
The exact time to go to heaven or when God calls us is something we do not know. It could happen anytime. That means our luggage should always be ready. According to the Bible preparation for heaven is somewhat easy because Jesus Christ already paid for the trip. If you as a reader is new to this, please check my other blogs. Going to heaven is free because it is provided by Jesus Christ.
However going to heaven is not automatic, we have to desire it. When we decided that we really love it, we then confess and repent of our sins and come to Jesus and confess Him as Lord and Savior with our mouth and heart.
The moment we believe in Jesus Christ we set our path and mind, body and soul to the kingdom of God and its righteousness.
Perhaps you want to know more or you want to make sure that this is true.I pray that God will lead you to a priest or a pastor or a Christian who will tell you more truth.
With the world experiencing global warming and at the same time seeking employment and livelihood for the growing population, it appears the world is stuck between a rock and a hard spot. We need jobs and jobs will come from industrialization which will use power and energy which will cause emissions which will affect our environment. Are we lighting the candles on both ends ?
Is this the time to look to God for answers ? As a Christian living in an industrial world, my belief in God and living in this world seems to bump on each other.
The Bible contains the promise of God that there will be new heavens and new earth. The new heavens and new earth will happen after Jesus Christ return.
So back to the question, more industrialization or Christ's return ? I do not have control nor any human being does on the future, but as for me I am looking for the return of Jesus Christ, are you ?
It hurts when we learn or hear that someone we knew pass away. It hurts when we learn that we offended someone or vice versa. It hurts when we make mistakes. Many things in the world may cause us pain and sorrow.
But Jesus came that we may have life. If we study the life of Jesus we will notice that He is a man of sorrows just as the prophet Isaiah wrote. Why is Jesus called a man of sorrows ? He experienced sorrows to give us life. One of the words of Jesus is found in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world".
Let us treasure Jesus' words."These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"
Here is what the Bible says how God deals with us.First the Bible reveals that God is One in three Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is our Creator. Because of sin we got separated from God but God loves us that He works to bring us back to Himself.
According to the Bible we should do the will of the Father, but how can we do that when we are in sin and separated from God ? Jesus the Son came to earth in human form to save us from our sins. Jesus gave His life, body, and blood to redeem us. But how can we come to Jesus when we are in sin and separated from God ?
The Holy Spirit works in our lives first to convict us of our sins, lead us to repentance and to come to Jesus to be reconciled with God.When we come to Jesus and accept Him by faith, the barrier between us and God disappear or removed and we come to the throne of grace where we enter the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Here we see the works of God in our lives. Jesus said that without Him we can do nothing so after we get reconciled with God that we are to stay with God, confess our sins when we commit them and we became aware of them. When we accept or when Jesus comes into our lives and into our inner being, God in advance gave us work to do and that the Bible says for us to work them out in our lives or in other words God planted them in our lives and we are to let it bloom. It is God working all the way.
Without God we are nothing. So with God we are alive and empowered. Glory to God !
Sometimes we encounter something about God and His ways that are indescribable. One I believe that happens when we really do not know what to do in certain situations, we tried everything and are ready to give up.
We pray and pray and nothing seems to happen. When things seems hopeless or unsolvable, then you see something only God can do.
Then only one can say is God You are God. All one can say is it is indescribable or for bloggers is unbloggable.
I believe indescribable or unbloggable moments are manifestation of God.
In Matthew 28:18-20 also known as the great commission: Jesus said " All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.
Go (you) therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Spirit):
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The commission is to present the message to everyone. Does everyone respond positively or do all receive the message ? Let us see.
Today Christian churches of different denominations and even non denominational churches are fulfilling or obeying the great commission.
Christian churches agree and disagree in big or small details. Some churches are stricter than others. Others are more open.
Jesus said in Matthew 20:16 and 22:14 For many are called few are chosen.
If we are Christians now, let us continue to humble ourselves and seek God and obey Him.
Those who are not yet Christians but who wants to be, are welcome.
I believe the Bible teach that salvation is a gift, sanctification or living a Christian life is necessary but we need the Holy Spirit for that That makes sanctification a gift too.
Many are called but few are chosen. We are all called but how can we know we are chosen ? According to Matthew 22:11,12 we should have wedding garment on. What is the wedding garment? I believe we have to wear Jesus Christ's righteousness, which is the wedding garment.
Symbolically we are to take off our filthy clothes (sins or our sins) and put on the righteousness of Christ , and there it is our wedding garment. We are the bride of Christ.
When I looked in the dictionary, convict and condemn are almost the same but as I read the Bible I see there is noticeable difference between the two, let us look at them.
The Bible says we all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Most of the time by ourselves we do not think we are sinning. So how do we know we sinned ? The Holy Spirit convict us of sin or remind us we sinned but that should lead us to repentance and lead us to Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world , that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
The next verse says For God sent not His Son to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
Verse 18 says He that believe on Him is not condemned; but he that believed not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Did you see the difference ? Holy Spirit convicts and lead us to Jesus and Jesus saves us. Those who don't believe in Jesus have rejected the way of salvation or are still in sin which will lead to condemnation.
In Romans 8:1 it says "there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
First, for clarity, I am referring to one of the thieves who died with Jesus. Second, this is not to glorify stealing but to show the beauty of repentance.Let us begin to discuss.
Everytime I thought about salvation with its theological elements, like are we saved by works ? saved by faith ? saved by prayers ? by Lordship salvation ? saved by joining a church ? easy believism ? saved by baptism ?it gets complicated so I will then review the story of one of the thieves who died with Jesus.
The thief did not go to seminary, and I doubt if he read the scriptures (sacred writings) but Jesus told him that today (when Jesus was about to die) he will be with Him in paradise.
Let us look at that thief. He was dying for his crime (robbing or stealing),the Bible says at first we was reviling Jesus like the other thief. But in pain, he had a change of heart. What happened ? He was so close to the dying Jesus that he heard His last words and more.
The thief saw the heart of Jesus. The heart of forgiveness for those who are crucifying them. The heart of caring as Jesus assign the care of His mother to John. The heart of obedience to God His Father. The heart for salvation of humanity, he saw what the book of Hebrews wrote: looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy set before Him (the salvation of humanity) endured the cross, ignoring or despising the shame.
We(humanity) do not like thieves, we do not want people who steal but this thief saw the heart of Jesus, and in his dying hour , he repented by turning to Jesus. He trusted in a dying man(Jesus) but more than a man's heart, the heart of God. Perhaps he wanted the heart of Jesus and it was given to him.
The thief expressed in his way the way of salvation, by faith in Jesus, by works by dying with Jesus, by prayer by asking Jesus to remember him when Jesus goes to paradise, by Lordship salvation ( final trust on Jesus), the thief probably could have desired baptism rather than to die on the cross but to die with Jesus is what baptism represents, so unknowingly he was baptised into the death of Jesus.
Would you like to be that thief? but we do not have to die for our sins because Jesus took our sins and have them nailed to the cross and with our sins paid for, Jesus gives us His robe of righteousness. Not only that when we repent of our sins, accept or receive Jesus, God also give us the Holy Spirit to help us in our Christian walk.
