What does it take for us to be on fire for Jesus ? Are we afraid of the world's reaction to us when they see us excited on Jesus ? Of course I am not talking about just hype but real fire, fire by the Spirit .
Let us see how we make earthly fire, we need fuel , oxygen from the air , and heat.
In the counterpart or equivalent in the Spirit realm, what represents the fuel , the air and the heat ?
Let's say for fuel will be hungry, thirsty, dry , and broken heart or hearts.
For air or oxygen we have or need the Holy Spirit.
For heat, we need humility, repentance, prayer.
Where do we put love, faith ?
Perhaps the people of God are just taking a nap, dreaming, I do not know,do you know ? Is there anything quenching the Spirit ?
Fire starts small, who will start the fire ? will you ? do we have enough air, how about fuel ?
When our Lord returns, will He see us cold or on fire ?
You may say that is impossible. That is the same as walking on water. Living our spiritual life is like that when we try it on our own. As Jesus can and walked on water ,so can the Spirit write on water. For almost thirty five years I have been writing on my journal but seems I am writing on water, they get erased or unfulfilled but by faith I'll keep writingfor my growth and hopefully for others too.
Let's keep going, even if it seems writing on water.( for we know living for Jesus is not in vain ).
What is grace ? My first encounter with the word grace was in the verse Ephesians 2:8,9 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith-- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works so that no one can boast. Another way of expressing this is heaven is a free gift or going to heaven is by grace. Grace is God's voluntary and loving favor to those He saves. By the way it took a while for me to accept that heaven or salvation is a free gift. Since the Bible also says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, that makes all of us as sinners . Yet as sinners we are still offered or given salvation.
Another use of grace is in 2 Corinthians 12:9 where God told Paul " My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." ( under study for now).
Back to grace, let me try to picture it this way. Let say God is a bank and we are robbers or active robbers (or sinners according to Romans 3:23). Grace is like the banker calling the robbers , to admit and confess their /our crime and we will be forgiven and be allowed to freely withdraw money from the bank even when we do not have a deposit.
For us humans this does not make sense, but that is how grace is , it is God's unmerited favor to sinners or free gift to sinners. Do we remain robbers? not anymore because we will be regenerated or sanctified.(another topic).
Sometimes it is tempting to form observation and conclusion on the news that we hear , see and read. We also have a tendency to believe a certain source of information that we like. Our desire for certain things cause us to see things that will lead to the scenario that we like. In short we seem to create our own reality or we lean on our own understanding.
In our prayer group, we like to quote Proverbs 3:5,6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge (submit in other translation) him and he will make your paths straight.
Question : how do we apply Proverbs 3:5,6 ? A missionary recommends spending time with God, hearing His voice and obeying. Sounds simple but in practice we or I start doing or not doing without hearing from God or I don't wait long enough.
The more we spend time with God through prayer, reading the Bible, meditation or daily devotional or waiting on God the more we'll hear and recognize His voice. With those I believe we will see God moves, which we could miss if we are not paying attention.
I thought about this the other day, then I forgot to write about it but I remember it again. How can I write something that I have not experienced ? Well God gave us this blessed hope. Have you ever based your happiness on something in the future then got unhappy when you obtained what you are aiming for. For example I dreamed of owning a car, I was happy at first then I found out that owning a car is also a responsibility, one has to take care of it, insure it etc.
Now back to the topic , everlasting life, what we know is, it is never ending, with no ending (sounds like I am repeating myself).Sure we will see our saved departed loved ones. But are we not forgetting anything ?
Here is what I thought, everlasting life without God , without Jesus is not everlasting life. If we are not loving Jesus now, we will not enjoy everlasting life.
God told Abraham in Genesis 15:1 that He is his reward, his exceeding great reward.Jesus promised mansions in heaven, streets of gold, precious stones, pearly gate(as written by apostle John ). I believe when we get to heaven through Jesus Christ we will not notice those for we will be in awe of God. But alas here on earth we get attach to material things, but wait a minute God knows we need those things now but He also said "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness , and all these things will be added unto you.But soon being with God is all that matters.
Why the title ? If i just said confession, it may appear I am condemning myself. Romans 8:1 says there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Well I have to admit there is still a lot of room for improvement for me. My trust on God still fall short at times. I am still afraid to go all out for God. I am still out of control sometimes, lacks discipline.
Seems like I am still in the wilderness. I liken myself to a child who is learning to walk, still stumbling, still falling.
But the good thing is I know God is watching, cheering me on..God tells us to be perfect, to be holy for He is holy. Telling us to keep going. To keep on keeping on.
But is it not Jesus already won the victory for us ? Yes He does and He did.But is it not others still don't believe Jesus won ? So if we say Jesus won then we are winners too.But in practice we may look defeated but faith tells us we will overcome. An example is Peter, he fell flat on his face or failed too but Jesus cheered him on.
So let us not give up in our Christian walk, let's keep going, for Jesus said He will never leave us or forsake us.
Dictionary defines gospel as Good news or tidings, especially the message of salvation preached by Jesus Christ and the apostles. Let us ask what is the good news and if there is good news then there must be bad news. I will try to be brief but at the same time try to present what is important.
Let us look at ourselves, I believe we will notice something good and bad about ourselves. If we are all good then we have nothing to worry but the truth is we sin or violate God's laws at least once or more everyday. In one year alone we could have 365 sins minimum. We can confess those but God gave the best solution, that is He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. How do we know Jesus died for us ? I believe Jesus is the only person in the whole world for all time who died as a criminalwithout committing a single sin or in other words He is sinless. Jesus willingly accepted His punishment and death for us. He died for us, for our sins.
Our rejection of Jesus means we rather pay for our sins ourselves, which means death and separation from God for eternity.
What should we do then ?Here is what the Bible reveal. All of us have sinned (Romans 3:23) and the wages of that is death (Romans 6:23) but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
How can we have this eternal life ? We can have this by having Jesus with us or in us. We can not stay in sin and be with Jesus at the same time. But as Christians we still sin , don't we ? The answer is we do not continue in sin, sooner or later we overcome sin through the Holy Spirit who resides in us when we trust and believe in Jesus.
I believe if we truly repent of our sins and would like to know and have Jesus that God will send somebody to us, a priest, a pastor, a believer.
Have you experienced this life in Jesus ? Pray and ask for God to help youand God will reveal more to you.
If you sense the urge to pray to God, do it now, don't wait any longer. The simplest prayer is God help me, i need You, save me from my sins through Your Son Jesus Christ.Help me live for You from now till forever.
This came from Philippians 2:12, which looks like we work for our own salvation. But the answer to that is the next verse. Philippians 2:13 which say For it is God who work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
This is one example where a source of apparent difference is clarified. Speaking of working out our salvation, our body language should projectwhat we believe. If we say we have life and joy in Jesus then we should have smile in our face. If we say Jesus is our protector, then we are to be calm.If we claim we are saved that means we have the Holy Spirit too, then the fruit of Spirit and expression of love should be in our life.
But how about fear and trembling ? should that be visible ? I believe that should be on the inside, that we fully respect and love the Lord.
Also verse 13 says for it is God who work in us...so it is not us acting up but the Holy Spirit manifesting. This could be scary or a source of trembling because what if our flesh (residual sin nature) shows up then rebuke and confession should follow.
Getting deeper into the heart of God. What does this mean ? Speculation in man's mind and heart will abound. We may have to travel known and written paths experienced by Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David.
Jesus said to Philip, if you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. To know Jesus will be to know the heart of God.
Getting to know Jesus involves spending time with Him. But where is Jesus ?
Jesus said whatever you done to the least of My brethren, you 've done this unto Me.
Maybe we will find Jesus in quiet place, in a deserted place, in unpopular place. in the secret place of the Most High.
Where would you think our Lord Jesus is ? If you found HIm, show me too.Yes we will see Him with eyes of faith.
Wow, what a question. Do i really know the answer ? Let us look at the Bible.
One of the stories of the Bible is the story of Noah. Noah was warned of God's judgment, so Noah was told to build the ark. Did other people knew ? Yes they soon knew and saw that Noah was building the ark. Did they believe Noah ? their actions showed they did not. Did God stopped talking ? God was talking to them through Noah. As long as Noah was building the ark, the message still stand. God gave men during that time more than enough time to repent. God did not cease warning, it is just men quit listening.
How about today ? Does God still talk ? Yes God still talk through many ways , through His creation, through the Bible, through the church, through the cross, etc.
Did God stopped talking ? or we just stopped listening ?
