Today we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Basically we thank God for the blessings He has given us. Sometime ago we in church gathering were thanking God for the things He gave us when our pastor who was intently listening, ask "Are we forgetting the God or the Being behind the gifts ?"
According to the Bible, Jesus Christ showed us God the Father. He said he who has seen Him has seen the Father. Let us recall then what we have learned so far about Jesus. Jesus is forgiving, He prayed for those who crucified Him. Jesus is humble , He washed the feet of His disciples. Jesus loves children. By Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, He showed us the heart of God. He probably could have started all over with His creation and destroyed sinful man, but He did not . He probably could have sent an angel to die for us, but He did not, but did not spare His Son.
God told Moses and His people , you shall not have other gods before Him .Is God selfish ? According to the Bible , God is One, revealed in three Persons , the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Aside from God and man whom God created, are the angels. Out of the angels , two groups came out, one who are loyal to God, and another opposed to God,the opposing angels are led by Lucifer, later called satan, or the dragon, or the serpent. If we have other god or gods beside God, then that god or gods can only come from satan.
If you want to know more about Jesus and God, open your Bible, if you do not have a Bible, purchase one.
God told Abraham, that He is his reward ( Genesis 15:1).
I reach the point in my life that the best I could do is lift up the name of Jesus. Yes Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of God, the Savior of the world. Our Creator, our Redeemer, our soon coming King. Let us exalt His Name forever to the glory of God the Father.Let us glorify Him again to the glory of God the Father together with the Holy Spirit.
Praise the Lord ! Hallelujah ! Glory to His Name !
No one knows the day or the hour when our Lord Jesus returns.
In light of this truth, how are we to react ? The Bible says to watch and pray. Occupy till He comes. Occupy on what ? on things pleasing to God. What are things pleasing to God ? obey His will, love Him, love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
I like to write short blogs, so to my fellow Christians , I would like to repeat what a fellow Christian said "keep on keeping on".
If you have been reading my blogs you probably noticed that my conclusion leads to Jesus Christ. I have been confessing my hope and faith in Jesus Christ but somehow I just noticed that the unknown is affecting me. Let us see how people deal with the unknown. There is a feeling of hopelessness when we deal with it because how can we deal with something we do not know anything about.
First for us humans i believe it is impossible to know everything. The world just witnessed the attack on Paris but the majority are affected by it, why ? plainly we do not know where or, when it will happen next. Could we calll this , a fear of the unknown ? or probably fear of death or probably fear of losing someone ?
I value your time so let us proceed with Jesus Christ. Will Jesus lead us to know everything ? Do we have to know everything ? Perhaps we will love Jesus more if we will see how Jesus will help us meet our greatest fear, is that ok ?
What is our greatest fear , the unknown ? name it .
According to the Bible , the death , the grave , has its sting or fear to most,is it not ? But Jesus conquered death, He paid for our sins.In HIm is eternal life.
Belief in Jesus help us to face the unknown. Know Jesus and make Him known as some believers have taught before.
As a Christian have you experienced being interrogated , shunned or scolded by another Christian in the internet? or have we done the same thing to another Christian ?
Perhaps if you experienced being on the defensive side or under questioning, you know it is not easy. If you are the questioner , did you ask who gave you the right to question another Christian ?
Basically who is a Christian ? A simple definition is one who is identified with Christ or Jesus Christ.Jesus Christ is his or her Lord and Savior.
This could be a long blog but let us ask where do true Christians came from ? According to the Holy Bible, mankind came from Adam and Eve, the first man and woman created by God. But Adam and Eve disobeyed God regarding not eating the forbidden fruit. In short man sinned and got separated from God. But God instituted ways to gain man back leading to the sending of His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for man's sin.
So again before we became Christians we were sinners, separated from God, or heathen or pagans. We only became Christians because God chose to save us or from man's view, we chose Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior.
In our modern times, Christians formed different denominations like Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants and call ourselves by different names and sad to say in one way or another we sometimes argue, debate or just avoid talking to each other.
Without the true Jesus Christ, there will be no true Christians. No Christian earned his or her way to be Christian, it is a gift. How about those Christians who died for their faith or became martyrs ? It is a gift too I read.
We are nothing without Christ , we owe everything to Jesus Christ. He deserves our praise and thanks.
Caution: Shall we trust everyone who claim to be Christian ? I believe the Holy Spirit will tell us or warn us. (maybe this is for another blog).
What is love ? i believe the true definition of love and its fulness can be found in God. But we may say God is invisible, no one has seen God. But God is no longer invisible because His Son Jesus Christ showed us God.Jesus said if anyone has seen Him, then that someone has seen God.
How else can this love be expressed ? I believe this love is in the hearts of the followers, believers, disciples of Jesus. And how did it get inside the hearts of Christians ? by repenting of our sins and rebellion, and surrendering or turning to Jesus Christ and God then is pleased to give us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is love and teacher and giver of love.
The Bible says in I Corinthians 13:13 And now abides faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. These verse says love is greater than faith. It will be remembered that it is written without faith it isimpossible to please God. But love is greater than faith according to I Corinthians 13:13 so with faith we please God, what is love then ? Love then is God expressing Himself through Jesus and the Holy Spirit who then will express love through us.
Are we expressing that love ?
note: Love is more than words, and its application is very much dependent on our life with Christ.
I am still a baby when it comes to love and so if anyone feels the same way let's find out more about love and grow in it.
In my previous blog I mentioned about pain but life in Jesus is not only about some pain but more of joy. We can find joy in sharing, joy that at least someone took the time to listen or read what we share. But I believe there is or are levels of joy.
Meanwhile let us look at our Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures or Holy Bible. In the book of Isaiah He is referred to as a man of sorrows acquainted with grief. In the book of Hebrews Jesus is described as in state of joy and that happens when He is redeeming us from sin.It is written that Jesus for the joy that is set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Let us make joy in heaven complete by responding positively to the call of God through His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The Bible says there is joy in heaven when someone or one sinner repents more than ninety nine just persons, which need no repentance.
If heaven expresses joy for one repentant sinner so I believe we here on earth should rejoice even if only one respond to what we share. And if one comes to Jesus , more will come. And many had come, is coming, and more reigniting their love for Jesus.
At this point I would like to encourage the readers to express their own thoughts and prayer to Jesus.
Often times we Christians are afraid to share our faith for fear of rejection, persecution, that our time will be wasted, etc. We are afraid that our efforts will fail or people will turn us down. Sometimes I also thought of stopping my sharing through blogging.
As I thought of excuses on how to stop sharing, I decided to pray. As I was praying a thought came to me, which pain is greater ? We share the gospel so people don't have to go to the " lake of fire" which is forever.
So let us consider, when we are trying to decide whether to share or not.Which pain is greater ?, the pain of rejection or failure or for others to go to the lake of fire ?
On the sermon on the mount one of the beatitudes spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ is" Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Let us look at this,we hunger and thirst when we have not eaten for a while and we have not drunk water, same thing with being hungry and thirsty for righteousness, that is when we realize that our own righteousness is not enough or they fall short of the standard of God.
On my younger days I thought i was righteous believing that my good works or own righteousness will lead me to heaven. It was that way till I found out the full requirement of God's law, that if I offend in one I am guilty of all. Further seeking lead me to find out that i need God's righteousness through Jesus Christ. Jesus paid for our sins through the cross and the shedding of His blood and He gave His righteousness to us in exchange for our unrighteousness. Again it was our unrighteousness that lead to Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
When we believe in Jesus , our outward appearance does not change but our inner being changed, the Holy Spirit begin to live in us. As we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit through prayer and study of God's words change or sanctification occurs in us and this takes a lifetime. Eventually the peace we have inside starts manifesting outwardly.
This transformation starts or started when we hunger and thirst for righteousness. And only through Jesus that we can satisfy our hunger and thirst for righteousness. Let us make sure we have God's righteousness or Jesus in us. Be filled with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
