Wait for the real riches

Wait for the real riches

What is or are real riches ? Real riches are eternal and can never be lost.We live in a world where the desire for money or material wealth is very strong. The Bible says the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Money can gain more money. Money can give power. Money enables us to buy things we want whether we need them or not.

Money by itself is not bad but if  we place too much dependence on it we could run into trouble.

The Bible says " seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all things that we need will be given to us."

But sometimes or most of the time we can not wait. Man (those who succumb to temptation) covet and help himself to accumulate money by hook or by crook.

Yes we need money and God gives us what we need when we put Him first place in our life.

But we also need to wait for the real riches that only God can give.

Greatest moment in our life

Greatest moment in our life

Two o clock in the morning California time. Memorial Day USA,a  day in which we remember the men and women who died while serving in the country's armed forces. I just watched the Super Bowl stories of American Football. I was inspired to look at the greatest moment in our life. We also remember the men and women who sacrificed for us so we can be where we are now or so we have what we have now.

I wish I too can hear your story. What is the greatest moment in your life ? Perhaps remembering those bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart. These are our earthly life which we know soon the glory will fade.

From a young Filipino boy now a Senior citizen, I have seen people fulfill their dreams and carry their memories with them.

Just like the men and women who died for us that we may have freedom or things we enjoy today, we too will someday die and some people will remember us for what we did for them.

But this blog is not just about dying. It is also about the story of someone dying for us that we may live. You see I look forward to eternal life and this life is in Jesus Christ.

Just as men and women died for us, then let us look and remember also Jesus Christ who died for us . Just as there is earthly life there is also eternal life. Do you have eternal life ? If you are not sure, come to Jesus Christ and ask Him to come into your life.

The Armor of God

The Armor of God

According to Apostle Paul here is the armor of God , as I quote from Bible Gateway resources:

Ephesians 6:10-18 (New International Version)

Ephesians 6:10-18

New International Version (NIV)

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

To my brothers and sisters in the Lord,I believe and as agreed upon by others. The armor of God is no other than our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor David Jeremiah of San Diego wrote about this in his book Spiritual Warfare.

Up to now realizing that God gave us His Son as our armor gives me confidence that God really wants us to win.

I hope this will sink in your soul and Spirit helping us to understand this.

Our loyalty

Our loyalty

To Christians ,where should our loyalty be ? To our church or to Jesus Christ first ?

According to the Bible, Jesus is the head of the church. The church is the body of Christ. The Christians are part of the body. The head sends messages to the body. And the body sends messages to the head on what it is feeling. The head and the body should be in constant communication and coordination.

So back to our question where should our loyaly be ? The answer is both if we have the true Jesus and a church that follows the true Jesus.

One candle

One candle

A friend of mine posted this on my Facebook timeline and I would like to respond:

Sariaya, It is better to light up one small candle than to curse the Darkness....quoted from a Chinese proverb by Confucius...

Basically the post contains the sentiments of my countrymen to travel and work abroad to find a better life.

As a Christian, I would simply say that to find Jesus is far better than travelling or working abroad. Why ? Jesus offers eternal life. Wherever we are we can find Jesus  and finding and having Jesus will give us benefits towards now and the after life.

Is the Bible still relevant today ?

Is the Bible still relevant today ?

The Bible is written about more than 2000 years ago. Is it still relevant for us today ? Man has advanced tremendously through science, research, industrial revolution, manufacturing, engineering, medical field, energy exploration, computer technology, transportation, satellite and space exploration, DNA etc. So is there a need for the Bible ?

But let us take a fair or unbiased assessment of what man has done so far. With man's progress comes the inevitable pollution. We are changing our world environment, causing global warming, which could be causing weird weather patterns. We are also depleting our natural resources and energy. In short we are exhausting the earth, but we may say we have no choice because we need to survive. What is man planning to do now ? One way is man is trying to explore the new frontier perhaps Mars or anywhere ?

Would you believe the Bible already saw long time ago the problem or problems we have now ? You may say how ?

I hope you have a Bible so you can check this. But if right now you do not have one, let me quote the Bible. In the Old Testament, the book of Isaiah says in chapter 65:17 " For behold , I (God of course is talking) create  new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

Also in Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth which I shall make remain before Me," says the LORD.

Even apostle Peter as he wrote in II Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Apostle John also saw the future as he wrote in Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.

Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

So now back to our question, Is the Bible still relevant today ? And the answer is yes and even still ahead of our time.

Will there be a Rapture ?

Will there be a Rapture ?

First what is a Rapture ? Rapture is one of the beliefs of some Christians that Jesus Christ will come back to earth and take to heaven those who are true believers before what they call the Great tribulation. What is the great tribulation ? It is a future final persecution of Christians. But you may say "I thought the Christians will be taken away ? good question, but this could answer that. Are all Christians the same ? Some are really practicing Christians but some are just by name. So here is the possibility the true will be caught up in the Rapture and those in name only will be left behind.

Those left behind may wake up and really believe that the Christian faith is really true and become true Christians. Now you may ask is the Rapture in the Bible ? The most common verses used are 1 Thessalonians 4:16 ,17 It says:

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then we who are alive in remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

I have met fellow Christians who do not believe in the Rapture and there may not be a Rapture as some imagine it to be but the real question is " Do we really believe in Jesus ?" You may say what is belief in Jesus got to do with the Rapture ? Well there are some who doubt Jesus is true, and some who thinks there is no Rapture. The occurence of Rapture maybe another chance for others to believe.By the way recently we are puzzled by the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight 370, could an event like a Rapture happen too where Christians will disappear ?

Personally I believe there will be a Rapture, but others may want to wait to see if it will happen. But again the important question is do we believe in Jesus ? Maybe for others they may want to see more proofs, like the Rapture. But i would say believe in Jesus and obey and the rapture will take care of itself.

Public confession of our faith

Public confession of our faith.

What is public confession of our faith ? For me it is admittance to the public that i am dead on my own and that my hope is in God and His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Is public confession telling the world we are perfect ? No not at all, we are still vulnerable like every human being is but we have God as our refuge, our fortress.

Is public confession telling we are better than others ? No the Bible tells for us to esteem others better than ourselves. For example one way of public confession is water baptism. Even Jesus came to John to be baptised.

Public confession is not about us but about Jesus. Jesus died on the cross publicly for us.

But you may say public confession will subject me to public scrutiny. Yes it will but anybody who believes in Jesus knows that his or her sins are forgiven or paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. The Bible says we are to do works worthy of repentance. If we used to steal we will have to return what we stole if we still have them. It could also mean confessing a crime we have committed.

Public confession means when Jesus comes there is no more sins to confess because confess or not Jesus knows them anyway.

Public confession means removing our mask if we have any.

Do we have to tell the world all our sins ? I do not think so.

Here is the bottom line, ask the Lord how do we stand before Him.

Lord Jesus am I really yours ? will you take me to your kingdom when you come ?
