Oftentimes we Christians complain about things which look big to us but they turn out to be small when compared with what the Lord suffered on the cross.
Let the cross of Jesus Christ our Lord be our teacher on how to deal with our own hurts.
Let us say in a church we felt ignored or unheard. On the cross Jesus felt He was forsaken by God, His Father. How did He responded ? He endured the cross and expressed love, care and obedience. How did He expressed care and love ? He saw his mother and told John to take care of her. He saw those who plotted for His crucifixion and asked God to forgive them.
On the cross Jesus suffered many things and from what He suffered love came out.
Friend , if you have a hurt right now, come to cross and look up.
Our church encourage us to share Jesus ( also called witnessing, evangelizing, soul winning, sharing faith ) to at least one person a year. One of the hardest is how to start with one whether we know the person or not. We fear to be turned down or how to even start a conversation.
From studies, here are the starting points. First, this is the work of the Holy Spirit, and we will be the instrument should we decide to obey. Second we should be aware that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, which we could only do by the help of the Holy Spirit.
This blog will deal with how to start the sharing. Pray to be led by the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit knows the receptivity of the individual to whom you wanted to share Jesus. What I found is we do this by faith, we will only find out when we start the conversation. So we do not have a clue in our mind how the conversation will turn out.
The key on how to start is to be armed with the love of Jesus. The love of Jesus will help us to begin whether our sharing will be accepted or rejected. For caution start with people as same gender as you.
Ask God to give you starting line, so again this is by faith.
Try it and see God works. It is by faith, is it not ?
For almost a week I can't help but get excited with God's love and people are taking notice. The feedback i got is some are wondering about me. Perhaps some people does not understand God's love or perhaps they do.
Maybe they do not know that God is willing to share that love for us to use.
What does it mean to have or share with God's love ? God's love in us will give us the same motivation that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have in creating and saving us. No do not misundertand me, we will not be creators but be spirit filled to obey God's command and God's will. Obeying will not be chore but a pleasure.
The Bible says that God the Father gives or will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. And who is the Holy Spirit ? Holy Spirit gives gifts like faith, hope and love and also gives the fruit of the Holy Spirit of which love is one of the nine ingredients.
Most people probably got stuck with receiving God's love, probably they are not aware of the greatest joy in using or giving it to others.
According to apostle Paul or St. Paul, there abide faith , hope and love and the greatest of these is love. Why is love the greatest gift ? Maybe you have the answer, I too am asking why ?Here is what we got: According to the Bible God is love. John 3:16 says God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The two greatest commandments say you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul and with all your strength. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Let each of us make our own research on the Bible about God's love, and let us see what comes out. The challenge is for everyone who claims to be a Christian whether you are a Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, etc.
One of the tests if God's love is in us is if we love our fellow believers, so do we love other believers ?
There are more, but we need to tackle this one bite at a time.
I can hear the readers now as they say. You got to be kidding. Are you crazy ? But let me respond. Would you rather be unholy ? I believe you will agree now , let us be holy. Again you might say to be holy is impossible. Again I will respond, did the Bible say to be holy for our God is holy ? I believe you will say "yes the Bible say to be holy." Now you could be saying, how could we be holy ?
Now that is hard now, first we have to believe it . That for those of us who accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior must believe that the Holy Spirit now live in us. If the Holy Spirit lives in us, then the Spirit who is Holy will help make us holy. Make sense ? I believe it does make sense.
Now let us look at real life , our actual life. We do have lots of temptations and failures. yes we sure do, but should we give up or quit ? I believe our answer for that is no. We keep getting up and keep fighting.
Some of us love sports, even olympics and let us learn from that. Who do we cheer or love ?The one who tried hardest, is it not ?But you may say, they actually look easy. But you know they have been practicing long and sacrificing their time and disciplining their bodies. Now if the world can work so hard for things that are temporary, why can't we Christians do the same for something that is eternal ?
In closing or continuing our journey, let us be holy, for God wants us to be holy and God is in us who will make us holy.
For 38 years I have been reading the Bible, listening to sermons, and living a Christian life. Yet I saw my life not as effectiveor fruitful as I wanted it to be. About last week I finished reading the whole Bible second or third time in 38 years. It takes about a year to read the entire Bible including journaling or daily copying what looks interesting from what we read.
I asked God, God I have read Your book entirely but it seems something is still missing in me ? God answered me not with audible words but with impression that I got knowledge and other things but I am not applying His love.
With tears coming from my eyes, could also from my heart and my mind and soul, I realized thatI have neglected love or God's love called agape which is love in Greek language. By the way if we want to see love in someone, let us look at Jesus and at the cross we will see His greatest love, for Jesus said greater love has no one than to give His life for his friends(John 15:13).
If God's love is in you ( the readers) please help me grow in that love and if not yet, let us seek and ask for God's love to grow in us.
As the Bible says we need to be doers of the Word and not hearers or readers only.
What I mean in this blog is asking for God's love to be in us. Throughout my life I heard the word love and used it myself but i really do not know love. In the Bible , James wrote ask for wisdom. Solomon wrote fear God and keep His commandments. The apostles ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. Paul wrote the greatest is love. David is a man of God's own heart.
How about asking for God's love ? Have you asked for God's love to flow through you ?
What I am finding out is I am asking for something so enormous that I can not be contained.
You know what God's love or the love of Christ is well beyond I imagined it to be, not even the apostle Paul....
to be completed in eternity..maybe. ...if eternity is enough.
Most people in the world know what to do now, they know what they want and they are doing what to do to get what they want or they are doing their best to get what they want, legally of course.
But have we ever thought of eternity? Yes eternity. What is eternity ? Eternity happens when our life on earth ceases. You may say I do not want to think about that, I am going to enjoy life. But let me ask you , do we live forever ? Have you heard anybody who lived past 120 years old ? Perhaps you will agree that in today's age no one live past that age. So you may ask what is my point ? My point is have you ever thought what happens when we die ?
Here is what I believe happens when we die . We will face God. You may say, so ? You may say God loves everybody, so no problem, is it not ? According to the Bible , we all sinned and the punishment for sin is death. Death is the absence of life, since God is life, death could also be separation from God. You may say , yes we all sin or disobeyed God in some point in our life and if what the Bible says is true then we deserve to die or be separated from God. You may say, that is very sad. And I agree that is very sad but wait...
God made a way of escape, yes a escape from death and an entrance to everlasting life. You may say really ? Yes that escape is through Jesus Christ. You don't believe me ? Check the Holy Bible .
Sharing Christian messages is not easy. Why did I say that ? Sooner or later somebody's belief will be contradicted and when that happens someone will get offended. The alternative to not offend anybody is also hard because not everyone is right.
Not all religion are the same, not all paths lead to God.
But the truth has to be proclaimed. Jesus Christ who is God who came to earth in human form offended some to the point that He was crucified. It was God's plan for Him (Jesus) to be the sacrifice for our sins. Did God caused Him to be crucified ? The apostles will not crucify Jesus but those who thought that Jesus made Himself equal to God or they call blasphemycrucified Him. We will probably answer this sometime.
Another question is who is right ? Everyone believes he or she is right.
But here is what I believe , anyone who really wants or desires to know the truth will find it.
Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6).
Today 2-14 is called Valentine's Day. Supposed to be about lovers ,about couples in love with each other. To be honest i do not know how Valentine's day started but let me share something about love. I have been married to the same woman for 34 years. Long as it may seem,I really don't know much about love till just the last few days. I would like to explain it in a few words but it is not easy because it took me over 61 years to really get to know love.
For now, let me share this. God is love and should be our model for love.Since God started everything or created everything He should also be our first love, our eternal love.
Today let me leave you with these thoughts, may God teach us true love through His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. And that we grow in God's love and the rest will follow.
