In the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans, he wrote in chapter 8 verses 38 and 39, " For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels , nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God , which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What a strong message from Apostle Paul ! What a guarantee ! But now the question is " does "us" refers only to the Romans ? I believe the "us" refers to those who trust and believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.Does that include you and I ?If Jesus is our Lord and Savior then it includes us.
It is that clear and simple, but how often we worry and doubt if God sees us or care for us.
So the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord forever binds us to God. Nothing will be able to separate us from Him.
When do we say that a news is good ? Is it when we found out we won a lottery, a contest, receive an award ? is it when we got hired on a job we want ? Good news is anything that makes us happy, is it not ? Does our good news lasts ?
In life often we keep looking for something better than what we got, is it not ? But most of the time, we either have the same or less than what we got.
But here's a challenge, can we make all news good ? Can we do it ? There is a person in the Bible whose name is Paul and he wrote in his letter to the Philippians in chapter 4 verse 12 " I know how to live when I am poor, and I know how to live when I have plenty. I have learned the secret of being happy at any time in everything that happens, when I have enough to eat and when I go hungry, when I have more than I need and when I do not have enough. Paul continued in verse 13. I can do all things through Christ, because He gives me strength.
Paul's happiness is in Christ. Shall we join him ?
What does abiding in Jesus means ? The answer is found in the Book of John from the Holy Bible. The book of John has 21 chapters and there are also 1 John, 2 John and 3 John.
The answers for abiding in Jesus is found in the 15th chapter of the Book of John. I hope I am not confusing you. Just saying we believe in Jesus is not enough unless we really believe in Jesus.
How about checking your Bibles and see what it says ? Let me know what you found and I will share what i found on my next blog.
Till next time. God bless us all.
Here are the answers as found in John chapter 15.
It means Jesus' words abide in us. verse 7
we bear much fruit. verse 8we are or will be His disciples. verse 8 also.
We continue in his love (verse 9) or abide in His love (verse 10)
Jesus ' joy remain in us (verse 11)
That we obey His commands and one of them is to love one another. (verse 12)
Jesus will give or has given us the Holy Spirit. (verse 26).
Comments: It looks like based on these we may say we are not yet abiding in Jesus. But as I see in the Scriptures God wants us to abide in Him and He in us through Jesus and the Holy Spirit. So let us ask God to help us. I believe He will answer our prayers.
Perhaps the question should be what are we praying for ? Are we really serious with our prayers ? Nevertheless as one of the Christians in this world i would like to encourage everyone to pray, examine ourselves, pray unceasingly. Let us pray what is in our hearts and that our prayers be according to God's will.
Perhaps another question is are our actions in line with our prayers ? or our words and thoughts reflect the desires of our prayers or hearts ?
Let me suggest to ask God what should we be praying for and for us to mean what we are praying for.
For almost two days i have been typing the names of graduates in our high school. Graduations are happy events and we know we go to series of graduations from elementary, middle, high school, college, masters, doctorates and post doctorates. In real life , at some point, we stop or unable to go on. It seems in schools we are trained to be competitive, we try to shine and achieve more after school.
Related with these are reunions. What drives us to excel in school is what drives us away from reunions. Why is that ? Man takes pride in achieving that if he or she underachieved then he or she prefers to just stay away from gatherings.
This seems depressing but wait let me tell you about a certain or special graduation. A graduation that we can not afford to miss. The graduation to eternal life.
In the Christian faith, this graduation is only available through Jesus Christ. Man in its fallen state can not meet the ideals of God. We sin and fall short. God in His mercy and love sent His Son to die for our sins. Jesus bore our sins or in school terms our failures and inabilities.
When we believe in Jesus , His righteousness is given to us in exchange for our unrighteousness. It is like honorary degrees.
While we aim for perfection, God is looking for broken lives, shattered dreams to restore and that is where Jesus comes in. Jesus wants to see us through, to graduate into His fellowship.
Having presented that, are you going to enrol? the tuition is free, it is all paid for by the blood and body of our Lord Jesus Christ.
After I retired one of my activities is to recollect my earlier years like my high school days and college days. One project i got involved is to make a list of graduates in our high school from 1969 plus and minus five years. Fellow graduates helped with the project. Our school was founded 1950.
Yesterday my wife and i were cleaning our garage when we found a reunion program with the list of graduates from 1951 to 1984 from our high school. I am so glad I found it and decided to announce it in our group in Facebook. I started the process of adding names and batches of graduates. I did not know how to scan the names so I copied the names one by one the old fashion way. Knowing that names are very important to people that I am sweating it out ,afraid to make mistakes.
What is the point of this blog ? If copying and correcting names is hard for me or us, what more is what JesusChrist suffered in paying for our sins ? He died for every human being that ever lived and will ever live. Jesus Christ knows each of us by name and everything about us. He loves us and He is not willing that any of us will perish but that all will come to repentance.
We are the apple of His eyes and what we can do is to love Him and thank Him and take Him as our Lord and Savior. Shall we do that ? I already did, will you ?
