God, the Bible and the water system

God, the Bible and the water system.

These past few weeks, I got curious and got started on drip irrigation. Drip irrigation for those who may not know about it, can be compared to the town or city water system with its supply and distribution system , the difference is the drip system is  a miniature size. Well silly me how else can drips be produced.

A few years back I made a study of water sytem using books written by men and I was pleasantly surprised that the Bible also or originally had so much to say about water. Water was mentioned 639 times in the Bible. I would like the readers to check the Bible and it is interesting that Genesis which is its first book mentioned that God was using mist to water the whole face of the ground before man was around or before they were created.

Another interesting statement was the Bible mentioned water from the rock mentioned in Exodus 17:6.

I would like to pause here and continue in a few days. So have a good day everyone.

The Bible is no ordinary book

The Bible is no ordinary book

I read that the Bible is usual best seller. The title of this blog probably not enough to describe it. For some if not majority of Christians it contains the word of God. It is inerrant or error free, some will disagree saying it contains errors. This belief divides people and caused people either to follow it or ignore it.

The Bible is the most sought and most avoided, most researched and debated. It is inexhaustible and it is shown by books written based on its truth yet there is no end in sight. Most translated too.

One's response to this blog will most likely be based on one's own belief on the Bible but for those who have not read it, I highly recommend it and as I have seen from reading it, it actually reads me. But there are more which I would like you to discover.

The Bible and aerodynamics

The Bible and aerodynamics

When I was a child before I read the Bible, I used to have a sling shot and I used to look for rough or sharp stones, I thought it does not matter what I chose as long as they are stones. I never figured out why I missed my targets most of the time.

Later on in life I learn in physics about aerodynamics or a branch of dynamics that deal with the motion of air and other gaseous fluids and with the forces acting on bodies in motion relative to such fluids. To make it short I learned that sharp, irregular or rough surfaces in moving objects create turbulence or drag in air or gas causing it to change direction which is best illustrated by a baseball whereas if you are aiming for something one uses smooth surface like surface of bullets .

Perhaps you are wondering where is this in the Bible ?. In the story of David and Goliath, where David slew Goliath, David used sling  and guess what he used. In 1 Samuel 17:40 the Bible mentioned that David took five smooth stones. Perhaps you may say it is coincidence but why not just say stone ? but I say why mention smooth. Perhaps you may say also why five stones, does David expect to miss ? This time it is arithmetic because Goliath also has brothers or others who may try to join.

The Bible and Civil Engineering

The Bible and Civil Engineering

This blog is written from a layman view namely me. One of the important subjects of civil engineering is about foundation. This is just a simple blog so I will cite one example. In the gospels Jesus said that those who hear His words and do them can be liken to a man who builds his house upon the rock and those who hear His words and not do them are like those who build their house on the sand. From engineering point of view what is the difference between building on sand and on the rock. The difference is with sand depending on loose, soft according to some range can hold around 2000-6000 pounds per square foot while softrock can hold around 10,000 to 20,000 pounds per square foot, a bedrock can hold more about 40,000 to 200,000 pounds per square foot area.

By the way both houses built on sand and rock may both stand but when storm and flood comes , it is plain to see which one will stand.

One concluding point, another description of Jesus is He is the Rock and Rock of Ages, and I believe this and I hope you will do too. And do not forget to hear His words and do them.

Most Important Thing In Life

Most Important Thing In Life

Hello world ! or hello people of the world ! If we are to ask ourselves what is the most important thing in life, what will it be ? Let us count the ways. To be most loved people in the world ? To be the richest ? To be the most powerful ? To be the wisest ? To be the most influential ? To be the best athlete ? To be the most educated  ? Anything else ? To live longer ? To see the world ? To go to the moon ? To marry the most beautiful person in the world ? We are people of dreams.

Now we are in the world , we see and read about people who have lived and became well known in history. I am sure you do remember quite a few people.  As successful and famous they are, can anyone know and say where they are now after the end of their life? My guess is our answer is really we do not know.

So back to the statement most important thing in life. To be honest it seems the important thing in life will only matter if it is forever. If something has an end, what use it is. It is depressing is it not ?

But wait, someone came into the world promising eternal life , His Name is Jesus Christ. Is His claim true ? His story is written in the Holy Bible, have you read it ? The Holy Bible  I believe is the best resource to answer the most important thing in life.

Let me share the answer I found , to have Jesus is to have the most important thing or Person in our life (ops excuse me in our eternal lfe).Without Jesus no eternal life. Do you agree or disagree ?

God and the electrical grid.

God and the electrical grid.

Having worked in the power plant industry gave me a closer view of electrical system and being a Christian showed me some similarity between God and the electrical grid. Electrical grid is the interconnection of electric generation of a country or continent.  We cannot store electricity in a massive level that it has to be produced on demand by electric generating units.Say when people wakes up in the morning turn on the lights and make coffee, the grid will sense it and causes generators to respond accordingly.

God who is our Creator, in my mind can be compared to the electrical grid.In the North American continent, the grid have shown stability that brownout is few and negligible.

The Bible says Jesus is the way , the truth, and the life , no one comes to the Father except through Him (Jesus).

Perhaps you have not seen the similarity yet, but here it is. As I mentioned earlier a grid is the interconnection of electric generation units. But have you ever wondered how those units get interconnected electrically? Say you are a unit wanting to join the grid. The grid in the US is at 60 cycles per second so to be connected you have to be at the same frequency. The measurement of your frequency is made using a "synchroscope" a device that compares the grid or system frequency with the incoming frequency. When they match then the unit can join or be synchronized to the grid.

In a way Jesus is like a synchroscope to have us acceptable to God. Without Jesus we are like a generator who is out of phase or out of fellowship.

Does this makes sense ? I hope this illustration will make you see our need for Jesus to be connected with God.
