First of all I am not a Chemist but I worked as a power plant operator and we dealt with chemistry. In power plant we used steam to turn a turbine which in turn rotates a generator to produce elecricity. Ourdrinking water as is can not be used directly to produce steam but it has to be what we call be deionized or demineralized. Our drinking water is safe for our body but not for boilers or steam generating units because minerals and impurities combined with high temperature and pressure will eventually clog up boiler tubes and affect heat transfer and cause boiler explosion.
Our drinking water, or domestic or raw water had to be purified with an ion exchange process. Where cation and anion with OH and H ions exchange Mg and Ca and SiO2 ions with the raw water. Soon, the raw water becomes deionized or demineralized water and the cation and anion beads becomes exhausted or become laden with mineral ions.
I hope at this point I am not confusing you and have you asking what does this relate with God. The comparison is like this Jesus Christ is like a fresh cation or anion exchanging His righteousness with our sins ( bad or undesirable minerals). By exchanging our sins with Christ righteousness we become acceptable to God for fellowship and His purpose. As the Bible says Jesus Christ became our sin bearer and we became the righteousness of Christ.
This blog is a sequel to my other blog " A little sheep goes astray". Where are we now ? In that blog I mentioned that i got fascinated with the field of civil engineering. I found myself checking books in the internet and looking at videos on construction. My blogs are short but I do not want to reveal the bottom line right away so bear with me. It is really fascinating how man built bridges like Brooklyn Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Tower Bridge of London, Lupu Bridge of China, Oresund Bridge, The Akashi- Kaikyo Bridge of Japan. Perhaps you too are fascinated with man's achievement in buiding bridges.
Have you ever wondered or asked " Has God built any bridge ?" When God delivered His people from Egypt through the Red Sea , He did not build a bridge but made a way in the sea by parting it and the Israelites passed on dry land. Same thing in crossing the Jordan , God did not build a bridge but caused water to back up on the upstream side.
Man who is created in the image of God was able to build bridges over a mile long and other facts and figures which makes me dizzy just thinking about those.
As unbelievable as man built bridges God is still unsurpassed. Wait a minute you may say I have not mentioned any bridge that God built .
Okay I have to reveal the punch line. Whereas man built bridge from an island to another island, God built a bridge from earth to His throne, and that bridge is Jesus Christ. The Bible revealed there is no other bridge or way to Him except through Jesus Christ.
By the way this is also an invitation for anyone to cross the bridge to eternal life by believing and being a follower of Jesus Christ.
According to what I read sheep are prone to wander and according to the Bible followers or believers in Jesus are called sheeps. I am a believer and follower of Jesus so I believe I qualify to be called a sheep maybe a little sheep. Lately once again I became fascinated again with man's achievements particularly in the field of engineering and this time in the field of civil engineering. For about 30 years I was in the field of power plant engineering working as operator.
Having retired I wanted to study something new and got curious with construction of buildings , dams and bridges etc. I had to read the basics of construction materials, analysis of forces etc. In doing these I sense myself going astray as a sheep. I got sick for at least over a week with cough and cold and asked the Lord what am I doing wrong. Could it be that my mind is not focused on Him ?
Yes I was out of focused but the Lord helped me back which is the subject of the next blog titled " God built a bridge."
The world has many gods and with it came many religions. But how can we know which one is the true one ?
Well I have not studied all religions in the world but let me ask the readers this. Is there any religion in the world besides Christianity who has a God who sacrificed His Son for the sins of the world?
I guess no human being in this world could have a meaningful existence without having a purpose or purposes. Purpose give us direction. Maybe this is why Rick Warren is so successful with Purpose Driven Church, and Purpose Driven Life.
By the way, have we seen anybody without a purpose ? I guess that person will be wandering aimlessly. So we can say anyone must have a purpose. The only thing is it could be bad or good purpose. So a bad purpose is almost same as no purpose.
According to Warren who based on the Bible the five main purposes of man are worship , fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission. Even these five purposes could go wrong if placed on the wrong direction. As a human being where are you focusing your purposes if I may ask ? Could you honestly say your purposes are eternal ?
In our search for truth, we find ourselves comparing the ministries of so and so with the ministries of another. The reality is no church or ministry have 100 % approval from the church going people. Seems like buying a car, not all will buy a Mercedes or Lexus or Honda or Toyota or Kia or Ford or Chrysler. But it is also hard to say that all churches are good. Is popularity the gage of a true church ? Just as one group will say another teaches heresy and another will counter that the group who labels another heretic, will in turn be labeled something else.
The Bible teaches us not to judge but it also admonishes us to discern truth from error. But can we discern truth from error without judging ? Hard question huh ?
How about praying to God for discernment ? And also praying that our hearts be purified and mind cleansed ? Maybe instead of analyzing others that we pray for God' s correction in our own lives. Yes everyone of us is responsible for our own lives.
So let us seek God's approval and that means humbling ourselves before God and allowing God to examine ourselves and for us to listen and obey His voice.
Have we given our eternal destiny a thought ? It seems we are focused on our health, our job, our looks, image, bank accounts, our education, what we are going to eat, where to go, what to wear etc.
Perhaps you will agree that what we focused on are temporary or short term. Even if we are excellent on the things which we think are important like the items I mentioned and more, we will all someday face our eternal destiny.Where will we be when our life here on earth is over ? Some of you may say why worry ? Let me suggest we are not worrying when we think about eternal destiny but we are just making sure that we are ready before that day comes.
Jesus Christ, the God who became human to die for our sins , prepared for our eternal destiny. He paid for the penalty for our sins which is death and unaccounted or unpaid sins will lead us to judgment in the lake of fire according to the Bible. But we need not go to hell, God has a way of escape which is through faith in Jesus Christ. God loves us so much that He gave His Son to die for us. So what are we to do now ? Let us confess our sins to God and express repentance and accept God's gift of pardon through Jesus Christ. When we do this we enter into a relationship with God that will eventually lead to eternal destiny with God.
If you sense that the Spirit or something tells you to commit your life to Christ, do it now while you can, why wait any longer.
There seems to be two lines of thought in sharing our Christian faithtoday. One is to tell it directly that Jesus is the only way or tell somebody what exactly what the Bible say. The other is to connect with what the people in the world know and do and worked through what they want and what they respond to.
As we know sharing our faith is like fishing as what our Lord showed. Fishing then was through the use of nets. But now fishing can also be done by bait and hook, fish ponds etc.
Sharing our faith is also likened to sowing seeds.
At first I preferred the direct approach, tell it as it is, take it or leave it but as live I see that indirect approach is also necessary. Let me try to explain, the lost or unsaved person is called spiritually dead or empty, so they will not respond to spiritual matters right away. While connecting with them or finding a common ground with them through things of the world but not necessarily sinful will allow them to open up to our Christian messageand then at proper time present the gospel.
