Ah..most of the time we humans has no patience in waiting. I believe that is why we have fast foods, we are a restless people. We want our church services to be quick, we want quick results.
Even with our problems, we want quick solutions. Let us look at the Bible for some advice. In Isaiah 40:31, it is written " But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
What a wonderful promise, but it is conditional, we have to wait on the Lord.I will try this, and take God for His word.
For most Christmas is a season of joy, celebration, parties , gifts, reunions, good news etc and this is the positive side but let us not forget there is also the negative side. For some Christmas could be a period of stress, loneliness, abandonment, unemployment, emptiness, being left out, being forgotten, even death of loved ones.
Did I write this blog to be a killjoy? No , not at all. Because it is for this negative side of Christmas that our Savior Jesus Christ came. He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Tradition said there was no room for Him. He was rejected and alone. He was bruised for our iniquities and on Him God laid all our sins and transgressions. Jesus endured them all for you and me. Hebrews 12 :2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
This is what I believe the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior. If there is nothing more we can celebrate about, remember through Jesus we have eternal life and soon and very soon we will see Him face to face in a place where time there is no end.
Sometimes it happen, fear grips our heart, for no apparent reason. Our mind seems to tell us we have done something wrong.
The Bible tells that the enemy is like a roaring lion looking for someone he can devour . (1 Peter 5:8). In situation like this the Christian is advised to pray and seek the blood of Jesus Christ, also to be sober and vigilant.
Have you ever had situation like that your mind tells you of bad things that are about to happen? Well if you have , you are not alone. The answer stay close to Jesus.
I spent most of my last week participating in the forums. In this blog I intended to use few words.
The Gospel I believed can be summarized in the cross. As we know the cross is composed of two beams, one vertical and one horizontal. The vertical represents the path between God and man, the horizontal the bridge between man and man. But let us not forget the mediator between God and man, and between man and man, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world or the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world , Jesus Christ.
When I think of this " wolf in sheep's clothing" I used to immediately visualize a sheep's hide laying on a wolf, on top is the white fleece of sheep and below are the feet or partial body of the wolf. In other words it is so obvious that one can see it in a distance.
In real life this is true , one can tell right away what is going on after some time or eventually exposed sooner or later.
In real life too there is hard case, where a wolf resembles a real sheep that no matter how hard you look it still looks like a sheep and even sound like a sheep. Eventually sheeps are harvested for wool or fleece (maybe) or meat and then it is finally revealed for what it is ,a sheep or a wolf.
This reminds me in some comics that say the characters are fictitious and any similarity to real persons are coincidence.
By the way in the Bible I don't know of a wolf that turn into a sheep but the Bible mentions lost sheeps being found.
You are probably thinking the title is a misprint it should be "Truth or Fallacy" or " True or False". No I really meant " Truth or Pride". This esteems from the saying , no one should discuss religion or politics because nobody wins.
Time and time again, I see endless debates on religion. Both sides keep coming with stronger arguments, when things seem to cool down, then another spark starts again.
Am I against debates or discussions ? No, but sometimes there will be a time , that both sides need to rest their case. What causes debates to continue ? It is not true or false, because if one knows he or she is false, then that person should concede. I would guess pride gets in the way. Pride keeps us from admitting we are wrong. Pride keeps us from admitting we lost. Pride could also want the other side to surrender.
Yesterday I read through the Forums and I came across a post where somebody is asking , how can Jesus be fully God and fully man ?
Somehow I recall or still today some believe that Jesus is just a man. Therefore there is no problem for Jesus being a man . The question then is Jesus God ? For me Jesus is God. Mainstream Christianity believe this from Catholics, to Baptists, to Pentecostals, in fact most who claim to be Christians believe this.
I would like to give my personal reason for believing that Jesus Christ is God. The Bible, which is the source of written accounts on God, basically talks about Jesus, from Genesis to Revelation. If Jesus is not God then the Bible basically glorified a person named Jesus. God through Isaiah said " I will not give my glory to another ."
The next assurance is if we really believe Jesus is God, is we know for sure that God really loves us. Jesus through the cross offered the greatest sacrifice for us.
Perhaps a better title is prophecy we all agreed upon. By "all" I mean those who believe in the Bible. For almost 30 years, I studied and listened to different views on the subject of prophecy particularly regarding the return or coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For those who also studied prophecy as mentioned above, knows the different views could be divisive and in some areas have caused division.
I do not place my fellow believers in prolonged suspense and I did not promise to tell you something that you did not know. So the prophecy we can agree or agreed upon is our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back!!! The next question is what are we doing ? If we are doing nothing, (with exception of arguing ) do we really believe Jesus is coming back ?
