Christmas means different things to different people. I guess if you are as a business person you expect to be on the black at the end of the year, and I think it is fair. If you are not a Christian then you probably , don't believe in Christmas, you rather call it Winter Holiday. One way people celebrate Christmas is to give gifts to one another supposed to be to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ who Christians like me called the Savior of the world or for Calvinists the Savior of the elects. Still some claim Christmas is a pagan holiday.
I have tried to avoid debates and I usually take the bottom line approach.Regardless of the exact date of Jesus' birthday, the important thing for me is the True God came to earth in human form in the person of Jesus Christ about 2000 years ago, to save a lost and dying world, born in a manger.
Advance Happy Birthday Lord Jesus !!! Jesus is still the reason for the season.
If we are to wear to armor of God, then we must be soldiers. Then if we are to be soldiers then we need to know and be united with our fellow soldiers. Unity among Christians is still very elusive. Why is that ? Maybe we are so focused on our little world like I, me and myself. That only yourself or myself have that exclusive right or exclusive citizenship in heaven. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
Let us be reminded that without Jesus Christ and without His shed blood that we are nothing. All of us has sinned and fall short of the glory of God.We cannot claim, I have read the Bible hundreds of times or claim I have devoted half of my life to God or claim of any personal efforts in our life. Folks, we are saved by grace, not of our own works that anyone can boast. The Bible says our good works are just filthy rags.
It is only by grace through the blood of the Lamb that we could claim we are God's people.
As soldiers for God, a most likely battle cry is " By the blood of the Lamb,we have victory."
It just occurred to me that even if we are wearing the armor of God, we have to guard our mind and heart. We have to keep in mind our purpose. We have to seek the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
There are many things out there that could distract our purpose. Each of us have weaknesses that we need to overcome. That brings us back to prayers and support groups.
What is spiritual warfare ? It is a battle between things of God and things of the world. The Bible talks about putting the whole armor of God found in the book of Ephesians. Put on the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the spirit which is the word of God,the shield of faith, the belt of truth, and feet wearing the gospel of peace. Our life filled with prayers.
To win the battle, we need to keep wearing these armor of God and think about this if we forgot our helmet, or shield or sword or breastplate or belt or shoes or neglect prayers then we are bound to lose or suffer failures.
Everyday we go to battle, every time we wake up, with God through Jesus and the Holy Spirit we are destined to win. However we also need to watch our flesh, our pride , our doubts but I believe those things come out when we forget God's armor.
So let us put on the whole armor of God according to Apostle Paul.
Mankind searches for power, popularity, riches, beautiful and expensive properties, success etc. Man also knows the realities of life like failures, sickness, disappointments, frustrations, despair, hopelessness etc.
I too searched for things in life and experienced setbacks or gained some and lost some. One thing that keeps coming back to me is Jesus. He gives meaning to life. Without Jesus, life for me won't have purpose.
I hope you too will find Jesus if you have not accepted Him yet.
I was tired and down today and thought about going to bed early. I did not feel like doing anything not even blogging. Then as I pondered these thoughts, something seems to tell me "cheer up". I retorted " why?". Then as I paused the urge to rejoice kept increasing. Then Bible verses came to mind like " This is the day that the Lord has made let us be glad and rejoice in it." Another one are the words of Lord Jesus when He said " I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly." Even Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians " Rejoice always".
Another one that came to mind is it does not take much to rejoice. We can be thankful and rejoicing for the daily things in life , like the air we breathe and water we drink.
Another source of rejoicing is the cross. The cross used to be a tool for punishing criminals later became a symbol of salvation and victory after God used it to redeem mankind through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. Yes our physical body will perish but God promised us glorious body.
Are you rejoicing today? If not I hope the verses I mentioned pick you up today. And yes the Bible have more and " Happy rejoicing to you ".
I checked this website today and I was surprised to see my name openly mentioned by member Jeffcc in his blog. It was a rude awakening for me, I did not see it coming. I thought I was respectful and diplomatic in my writings.
In my previous communication with Jeffcc, I sensed we have different perspectives, of course he formed his opinion of me and I formed my opinion of him. To make a long story short, in our exchange of messages I sensed it could escalate so I initiated a way of ending the discussion.
I blessed Jeffcc twice privately and since we are now in the open, I would like to bless him publicly. However as member/s of true2ourselves, I had to refer this situation to the administrator.
I asked a fellow member of True2ourselves.com about God's church and God's people, out of 6,000,000,000 plus people that are alive in planet earth today, the fellow member could not name any church or any God's people.
Maybe you the reader/s could help me see where the problem is.
Churches started during the time of our Lord Jesus Christ and continued after He ascended to heaven. The apostles and devout men and women spread the Gospel on foot or where persecution led them to. Fellowships were usually done in houses. That was approximately 34 A. D., now we are in 2009 going to 2010. What happened to the early church or churches?
It is my belief that the Holy Spirit was present then and that He is still with us today. Based on that God continued to have His people and that God still have churches whether underground or in the open. That is why I disagree with people who believe that God churches no longer exist. Some say follow God and not man, but I will argue or state that God uses man. Now when churches deviate from the clear teachings of the Bible then to leave is the only logical choice.
Some will say the church did not help them but to that I will say is it not the people form the church? To borrow from Kennedy " ask not what the country can do for you , but what you can do for the country" can be applied to the churches too.
God's churches still exist today, either one is for or against them.
I was installing a portable smoke alarm in my house, when during installing the base of the alarm in the ceiling, the nearby alarm of hard wired ( connected to house wiring) went off due to my pounding and I can not stop it. After an hour I finally figure it out.
I was pondering what happened then somehow I thought about what is going on the world, with sins that are no longer looked upon as sins. I asked who will sound the alarm ? Seems sins and judgments are hardly being preached now.Maybe I just happen not to tune in to the right channel or station.
To my surprise or maybe not, some people to whom I disagree theologically are sounding the alarm about sin and judgment. Maybe God uses people too even though we are not exactly the same theologically.
God is holy and we must be holy, the Bible says. Let the blood of Jesus cleanse us and may the Holy Spirit convict us of our sins.
